SPOTLIGHT “New to Danny Jones Middle School”

Deanna King is currently our 8th Grade Pre-AP Algebra I Teacher. She graduated from Texas A&M University. Go Texas Aggies! This is Mrs. King first year teaching at Danny Jones. When asked about her first year here at DJMS she said, “It has been the best year of my teaching career so far! I don’t say that lightly. I’ve worked at some amazing schools and taught some incredible students in the past, but none have compared to the Danny Jones experience! I count myself blessed to teach my

favorite subject to my favorite age group at one of the greatest schools in the area. My students have worked very hard to meet my high expectations for them, and I am blown away by their collective ability to learn math on a high level. I am delighted to be at a school where I am appreciated and respected by my administrators, colleagues, and students. It is the perfect formula for a happy math teacher!”

LaQuisha Ross teaches 7th grade AVID and Skills for Success. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Community Health in 2007 while attending Stephen F. Austin State University. This is LaQuisha 5th year teaching and her 1st year at Danny Jones Middle School and teaching at the middle school level. When asked about her first year teaching at Danny Jones, she replied, “I am so blessed to be a

part of the Mansfield ISD and Danny Jones family of exceptional teachers and staff that works together to make sure that every student excels and strive for excellence. I can honestly say that this has been one of my most rewarding and enjoyable years of teaching. I’m very appreciative of the staff helping me adjust to a new school and I love the positive learning and work environment at Danny Jones. I’ve love teaching AVID and Skills for Success, because I know it’s my job to make sure that every student gains the necessary skills in order to obtain lifelong success. I love that my students are fun, energetic and fascinated by learning new skills in my classes. That is why DJMS Rocks!” She also coaches Volleyball, Basketball, Track and Field.

7th grade Girl’s B team volleyball and basketball teams were District Champions for the 2015-2016 season. 7th grade girls B team basketball team also went undefeated on the season with an overall record of 14-0. Like we

always say at DJMS “Nobody beats a Bulldog!”

Mrs. Ashley Rudek is also new to Danny Jones. She teaches 7th & 8th graders in Leadership & Athletics. Ashley graduated from Dallas Baptist University. About her first year at Danny Jones, she said, “My first year at Danny Jones was an awesome experience! I could not of asked for a better first year teaching. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The students are well behaved and have great personalities. Danny Jones Middle School is a great place to be!”

Teri Alexander teaches 7th Grade Texas History. She attended the University of Texas at Tyler. When asked about her first year here at DJMS, she replied, “My first year at Danny Jones has been amazing! I have been blessed with so many opportunities and colleagues that make teaching 7th grade not only fun, but a creative and memorable experience.” Teri’s biggest accomplishment of this year would have to be organizing and getting approval to take 50 7th graders to San Antonio for a visit to the new state-of-the-art virtual Alamo experience, ‘Battle for Texas’, along with a tour of the Alamo. She is hoping that this trip will be the first of many more to come, with the opportunity to take more students each year!

People say it takes a certain kind of person to teach middle-schoolers, and I say they are correct! It is our own passion within us that leads us to where we are supposed to be and to whom we are supposed to interact with that makes a difference. I researched all the other grades by substituting while going back to school and earning my degree and certification, and I’m certain I am where I’m supposed to be!

Teaching ELA, Leadership and Skills for Success, Mr. Carl Green, is a graduate from Southern Arkansas University. Here’s what he had to say about his first year teaching at Danny Jones. “My first year at Danny Jones has been great! From day one, I have received SO MUCH support from fellow colleagues and I have gained valuable professional experience from them. I have enjoyed teaching hard-working students who have made tremendous strides from day one until this point. As a

result, I look forward to what the future may bring and I thank everyone for their love and support. In the words of Mr. Hodgson, “Nobody beats a bulldog.”
