Mantra Wines A taste of Infinity 2013 Old Vine Zinfandel WINERY: Mantra and Mobius Wines are family owned with five vineyards in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Napa Valleys. Mike Kuimelis Sr. has been growing grapes for noted wineries for over 30 years and his son Mike Kuimelis Jr. has been making wine for over 15 years. As a team, they create small lot wines from their estate vineyards with an emphasis on quality and varietal character. The infinity sign that is their logo indicates that there is no finish: the taste goes on for ever. DESCRIPTION: This is a gorgeous wine showing characteristics of raspberry, blackberry, rose petal, caramel and spice. Delicious! WINEMAKER NOTES: The 2013 Old Vine Zinfandel is a beautifully crafted using grapes from our Old Vine vineyard in the foot hills of the Mayacama Mountain range that was planted in 1946. The vineyard is inter-planted with small amounts of Petite Sirah (about 5 to 6%), is mostly dry farmed and has a modified head pruned trellis system. The vineyard produces less than 2 tons to the acre and is harvested and fermented 3 times throughout the year as the three blocks ripen. The three blocks are fermented separately and go to barrel separately but are put together with the first racking. The fruit is hand sorted before it is de-stemmed and then placed in the fermenter as whole berries. A long cold soak at 50 degrees is followed by a slow fermentation that is allowed to progress with it’s natural yeast at a slow and steady rate and then half way through the fermentation it is inoculated with a vigorous yeast to finish the job. PRODUCTION: 535 cases 750 ml AGING: Aged in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels. Arizona Wholesale by Orangewood Wines Richard and Laurie Corles 480.488.4794
