Alhosnei (3) Sultan Qaboos University (Received 02/01/2018; accepted 21/05/2018) Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the effect of teaching science via Omani folk tales on the 6 th grade female students' attitude toward science subject and using Folk Tales in teaching science. The study sample consisted of 57 female 6 th grade students. They were divided in two groups: an experimental group N=30,which was taught science by Omani Folk Tales, and a control group N= 27, which was taught science by the conventional learning method. The study was implemented in the academic year 2016/ 2017. To achieve the study aims, teacher guide was developed to help science teacher of the experimental group to teach via Omani Folk Tales. In addition, student attitude toward science subject 26 items and applying Omani Folk Tales scale in science periods 29 items were developed and implemented to both groups. The validity of the two instruments was checked through panel of judges and their reliability was calculated using internal consistency methods using coefficient Alpha Cronbach. It was found that the reliability of attitude toward science subject is 0.87 and for attitude towards cultural heritage scale is 0.96. The findings of the study revealed that there is a statistical difference in students' attitude toward science subject and toward using Omani Folk Tales in teaching science in favor of experimental group.
