One of the best ways to get started as a baby sitter is by word of mouth
Tell you parents, friends, or anyone who could get the word out
You need to know what other baby sitters get paid in your area.
Most parents will ask you what you charge.
Make sure you give a reasonable baby sitting rate
If you have little or no experience you may not be able to charge full rates
The more you baby sit the more experience you have, and you may be able to increase your rates over time.
Rates also increase depending on the age of the child or how many children there are.
When starting a baby sitting job you will most likely be interviewed by the parents
They will usually ask you about your background, previous experiences baby sitting, and if you took and child care classes
It they think you are a good candidate they will allow you to teach the children
Before you accept the job make sure you know what is expected of you and that you are comfortable with it
You should learn CPR and first aid
Make sure you get all instructions and emergency numbers from the parents
Turn on the outside lights and if you are playing with the kids outside make sure the house is secure
Don’t leave the house with the kids without permission
Don’t let anyone in the house unless you personally know him or her AND if the parents say it is okay.
If someone comes to the house and you are suspicious stay inside and call the police
Don’t have friends over while babysitting Don’t tie up the phone line in case the
parents are trying to call.
If you follow these instructions and guideline you will have success as a baby sitter.
