Solar SystemOur solar system has 8 planets
and a dwarf planet, so we have 9 planets in all.
Our sun is in the middle of the solar system.
By Courtney Sindoni
Sun The sun is the largest object in our
solar system. The sun will eventually blow up in
500 billion years. The sun is bigger than all the
planets put together.
Mercury Mercury is the closest planet to the
sun. Mercury is also as big as Earth’s moon. Mercury have no moons.
Venus Venus is the second closest planet to
the sun. Venus is also the same size as Earth. Venus has no moons.
Earth Earth is the only planet that has life
and water. It is the third planet from the sun. Earth also rotates on its axis. It takes Earth 24 hours for a day and
365 ¼ for a year. Earth has one moon and it is called
Luna.
Mars Mars has a robot on it and it is very
cold. Mars is the 4th planet from the sun. Mars’s nickname is the “The Red
Planet,” Mars has three known moons, and two
of them are called Deimos and Phobos.
Asteroid Belt The asteroid belt runs between Mars
and Jupiter. The asteroid belt is made of metal, and
rock.
Jupiter Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. It is by far the biggest planet. Jupiter has at least 62 moons that are
very small.
Saturn Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. Saturn has no known solid surfaces. Saturn has at least 62 moons currently.
Uranus Uranus is the seventh planet from the
sun. Uranus rolls on it’s side and rotates
around the sun. Uranus has 27 moons.
Neptune Neptune is the eighth planet from the
sun. Neptune is one of the windiest places
in the solar system. Neptune has 13 known moons.
Pluto Pluto is a dwarf planet. It is the ninth planet from the sun. Pluto has 2 moons.
Comets Comets are a ball of rock, ice, and
frozen gases. A comet’s orbit brings it close to the
sun.
Moon The moon orbits around Earth. It has many craters on it from asteroid
that land on it.
Constellations Constellations are a group of stars that
make a picture in the sky. The Big Dipper, The Little Dipper, and
The Orion are constellations.
Black Hole Black Holes have 3 main parts. The outside is called the Outer event
Horizon. The middle is called the Inner Event
Horizon. The center is called the Singularity.
Universe The universe is made of dust, gas,
clouds, galaxies, and stars. The universe is very big.
Galaxy The galaxy we live in is called “The
Milky Way.” “The Milky Way” is the most significant
galaxy to humans because it is our home sweet home.
Asteroids An asteroid is a large piece of rock in
space. Some asteroids can be as small as a
grain of sand. Asteroids called Ceres are very large.
Stars Stars fill most of the sky at night. They are bright, and if they are big
enough they will shine up the hole sky so you can see at night.
A couple of stars have been found 100 or 200 times larger than the sun.
Meteorites A meteorite is a steak of light in the sky. Some people call them “shooting stars,”
or “a falling star.”
Axis Every planet has an axis. An axis is an imaginary line through
the center of all planets. All planets rotate on their axis.
Milky Way The Milky Way is the galaxy that we
live in. The Milky Way holds all of the planets
and stars that are in our solar system.
Gravity Gravity is what holds us on the ground. If we had no gravity we would be
floating in mid- air.
Atmosphere Our atmosphere is all around Earth. It is right by the crust of the Earth.
Craters Craters are big holes in the ground. The big holes are formed by asteroids
that come down on Earth, that is why they are called “Craters.”
Gaseous Gaseous is a type of planet. The gaseous planets are the outer
planets. They are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and
Neptune. Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune
Terrestrial Terrestrial is a type of planet. Earth is a terrestrial planet. The terrestrial planets are the inner
planets. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars,
and Pluto. Mercury Venus Earth Mars

Extra Facts A galaxy is made of gases, dust, and stars. Earth is 75% water, so that means 25% of Earth
is not water. The galaxy we live in is called The Milky Way. Our galaxy has inner planets and outer planets. Our universe is everything that exists in space. There is 4 inner planets and 4 outer planets. Arthromeres say that they have found other stars
that are 100 or 200 times larger than the sun, but they are not in our galaxy.
All the planets have days and years with all different times as the other planets.
The End THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!!!! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT ON OUR SOLAR
SYSTEM!!!!
