Programme Title: Physiology MSc course.
Final Award: □ MSc
Educational Aims and Objectives of the Course: The broad aims of the Programme are as follows (enumerate according to your department):
1- Introduction of the basic facts of physiology for the medical students in the
postgraduate stage.
2- Helps the students to understand & interpret many medical problems
especially those related to internal medicine.
3- Development of several practical capacities in the students related to
experimental work.
Main Learning Outcomes: Intended learning outcomes (ILOs); Are four main categories: knowledge (K) to be gained,
intellectual qualities (I), professional/practical (P) and transferable skills (T).
1- Knowledge and Understanding of Subject (K) ''Filled according to the department ''
K1 The functional organization & structure of various body systems and its
relation to function.
K2 General & specific functions of the body systems.
K3 Mechanisms aiming at maintenance of homeostatic functions as: pH,
osmolarity, body temperature, etc….
K4 Some pathophysiological aspects underlying the development of common
diseases.

The Postgraduate Degree provides opportunities for candidates to achieve and demonstrate the
following intellectual qualities:
I1 Integration of facts about function of different organs subserving the
homeostasis.
I2 Solving medical problems related to diagnosis & treatment of physiological
problems as: pH, osmolarity, etc….
I3 Observation of scientific phenomena during the practical study.
3- Professional/practical skills (P) ''Filled according to the department ''
The Postgraduate Degree provides opportunities for candidates to demonstrate the following
professional/practical skills:
P1 General skills for attendance in biological science laboratories.
P2 Dealing with experimental animals as: rats, frogs, and rabbits.
P3 Skills for use of basic medical devices as sphygmomanometer, stethoscope,
and thermometer.
P4 Primary analysis & interpretation of some physiological records (ECG &
spirogram) and some laboratory tests (blood count, hemoglobin, pregnancy
tests).
4- Transferable skills (T) ''Filled according to the department '' The Postgraduate Degree provides the opportunity to demonstrate the following transferable skills:
T1 Development of reading & database search capacities both in the library &

To qualify for the award of the MSc/MD with distinction, candidates must achieve an overall
average mark of a 75% or more, with a mark of at least 75% being achieved in each course. To
qualify for the award of the MSc/MD, candidates must pass at least 60% of the final exam.

1- Attendance Criteria: Minimum acceptance attendance in each course is 75%
2- Log book should be fulfilled and signed by Head of the department
3- Assessment tool Tools Mark Percentage of the total mark
