Morah Yali’s Corner

This week, we made a very special stop in our journey through Eretz Is-rael. We went to the special and sa-

cred city of Jerusalem - ירושלים - we learned all about why it is called “The City of Gold,” about the special gates that the city has, and about how there is a divine magic that people come to experience from all over the world. We learned about the Kotel where people go to pray and ask Hashem for wishes through special notes. In each classroom, we made our own Ko-tel. Each student designed their own brick, and made a wish on a little note for Hashem.

We continued to water and care for our Lima Beans - many of which are as tall as little trees already!

In Zumba, we listened to music about Jerusalem, and even did some Israeli dancing!

Welcome

Read-a-loud was such a blast blast this week. Week. We

read lots of Berenstain Bear books

by by Stan and Jan Beren-

stain. stain. The books talk a lot about daily life lessons, like how, to sit nicely at

a restaurant or help out around the house if someone isn't feeling well. We really enjoyed all the stories we read in our bunks about Brother, Sister and Honey bear. I can not wait to see what next weeks adven-tures bring.

Chai Lifeline Jump-a-thon

Wow! The Sunfires (5s) love being outdoors all the time. This week was no exception. The children splashed, swam , and played in the pool and even got to spend extra time on the water slide. It's amazing how great they've all become at swimming.

Our bunk did so much jumping during the Chai Lifeline Jumpathon we thought they might be kangaroos. We all were impressed how many times they jumped for the sick children who need help. Great job to all our bunkmates they did a great job.

The Sunfires and Sunshines always have fun when they get togeth-er for bunk switch. This week we did The Berenstain Bears project, went to the moon and made a space scene with the children’s face pok-ing out of the spaceship. Such fun for all. After we all went outside for some great outdoors fun. We love being together.

Sports Explosion was great and all the kids did an job awesome Continued on page 3

Around Camp

On Tuesday we had our Chai Lifeline Jump-a-thon. The campers jumped and jumped and jumped all gym class long! All their bunkmates cheered them on and encouraged each other to keep on jumping! The Sunshines’ bunk wouldn't stop jumping until each camper did at least 100 jumps!!! If you want to participate in this great cause, please send in a check to camp made out to chai lifeline and I will email you with your prize options. The options vary depending on how much you donate.

playing all the games. Congrats to the RED/ YELLOW TEAMS!!!!!! We loved having Emily this summer and will miss her so much!

The Sunshines (5s) had a great week at camp. Morah

Ellyn explained to the bunk that Chai Lifeline helps sick children get better. She challenged them to do a minimum of 100 jumps each. ... not an easy task for anyone in the sun and heat but they did amazing!!!!! All the yeladim in the Sunshines were all geared up. Every camper in the bunk jumped 100 or more. Everyone cheered each other on and they had such fun cheering "more, more, more" The Morahs were so proud of the children for doing such big mitzvos, and understanding how important each jump was!!!! Kol ha kavod to the Sunshines Bunk and Hannah Seplowitz for jumping 352 jumps.

Sports Explosion was awesome this year thanks to Mo-rah Miryam. Everyone was a winner and really had a blast. The children rooted their friends on, and cheered so loud that we were sure they'd have no voices by the end of the day. They ran, jumped, swam, and even had potato sack rac-es. What great sportsmanship the bunk showed to the oth-er teams.

The Sunshines went to the moon this week with the Berenstain Bears.... after watching a short video and read-ing several books they made a spaceship and created their own moon with silver paint. They all zoomed around with their pretend spaceships and had a blast.

Can't wait for next week!!!!!!

It has been a Berenstain blast for the Sunfish (4s) this week!! To start off our week, we made our own Beren-stain bear with water colors, and attached it's face and paws. In the middle of our bears, it says what we learned from the Berenstain bears books, as the books taught us

very valuable lessons. One of the books is called, "The Ber-enstain bears and Too Much Birthday." In the story, the bears celebrated sister bear's birthday. Sister bear learned it doesn't matter what gifts she got, what matters is that she's happy and healthy, and spending her birthday with her loved ones. As a result, we had our own Berenstain bear birthday party with the Sundaes to celebrate sister bear's birthday. We made bear claws with brownies, Her-shey kisses, and breadsticks. We even played a game called "Pin the bow on sister bear." We were blindfolded and had to try to put sister bear's bow on top of her head. The children had such a blast at this amazing birthday party.

In addition, Wednesday was Sports Explosion! All of the races and relays were so much fun, and the children loved cheering for their friends!

To close out the week, we made our very own piggy banks, so that we never have "Trouble with Money," like brother and sister bear. We can't wait to come back next week for some more fun in the sun.

The Sundaes (4s) had an incredible week at Camp Shemesh. We read all sorts of Berenstain bears book and learned so much. During bunk time switch where the Sun-fish and Sundaes join together, we had a “too much birth-day party for sister bear.“ It was so much fun. We made edible bear claws and played pin the bow on sister bear. All the campers had such a great time. This week was also sports explosion which is our version of color war. Our bunk was split in two. The yellow team and the red team compet-ed in a variety of sports and water competitions. We made posters for each team and the campers cheered for their teammates. It was really so nice to see all the kids work together as a team. Looking forward to next week!

The Sunglasses (3s) would like to wish a big Mazal Tov to Liat Shrage on becoming a big sister and to Gilad Linden-baum on becoming a big brother!!!

This week has been a very exciting one in the Sunglass-es. Orlee, Keira, and Carmel all went in to the big pool for the first time and loved it! We hope all our campers will make it in!

During art, the Sunglasses made their own brother bear and sister bear characters, and used them when the Morahs were reading the Berenstain Bear books. Addition-ally, the campers painted a moon and attached stars to it based on one the books.

The campers have been learning new games and love playing with the parachute! Each one of them adds something special and we love spending each day with them!

The Sunbeams (3s) had a super fun fourth

week of camp! This week we stayed cool by splashing around in the pool and playing duck duck goose in the shade. In gym, we loved going on our treasure hunt and continued to work on our soccer and basketball skills. We also began to learn how to play baseball and swing a bat!

We were so lucky to have lots of special ac-tivities this week. On Tuesday, we had the Jump-a-thon for Chai Lifeline. It was so much fun to jump with all of our friends for such a great mitzvah, and on Wednesday, we had our Sports Explosion! We loved making flags, posters, and learning team chants to support our red and yel-low teams! As an art project during the week, we created mini Berenstain Bear stick figures,

This week the Sunflowers (2s) enjoyed reading the Berenstain Bear series books by Stan &Jan Berenstain we had so much fun making our own tree house. We enjoyed touching the soft pom poms and ripping it to make it look like the top of the tree. Our favorite was the Berenstain bear lemonade stand. We laughed and thought it was funny. We joined the Sunfires and made our own lemonade stand with homemade lemonade. It was delicious and

fun to give out to the camp.
