a friendly townAnglolang is located in the traditional seaside
resort of Scarborough on the beautiful
North Yorkshire coast.
Scarborough has been the destination of
choice for tourists since the 17th Century.
It is the largest holiday resort on the
Yorkshire coast, where a warm welcome
meets every visitor. It has everything that
is expected of an established seaside town
which is rich in history, culture and charm,
plus breathtaking countryside, offering peace
and relaxation.
Local annual festivals provide excellent
opportunities for international visitors to
make English friends easily. These include
Seafest, International Jazz, Scarborough
Fayre, Scarborough Surf Festival and the
Cricket festival.

great choiceScarborough provides a wide range of
entertainment for people of all ages, such as
the Sea Life Centre, Scarborough Art Gallery,
the Open Air Theatre and the unique Spa
Complex. The two main beaches provide a
great source of enjoyment - the South Bay,
with its fishing harbour, marina, cafes, and
amusement arcades; the North Bay with
its watersports and scenic parks. Both bays
are separated by the magnificent medieval
Scarborough Castle.
lively nightlifeWith many traditional Yorkshire pubs
offering live music, two cinemas, several
theatres staging concerts, ballets and
summer shows, a casino and a wide range
of restaurants and bars, it is easy to find
something to do during the evenings.
Scarborough is also home to the famous
Stephen Joseph Theatre which hosts
original plays by resident playwright
Sir Alan Ayckbourn, before reaching London’s
West End.
The resort also provides a great choice
of high street shops and boutiques, as
well as an indoor shopping centre. The
pedestrianised town centre also boasts

CAMBRIDGE coursesAnglolang’s Cambridge English First (FCE)
and Cambridge English Advanced (CAE)
courses can be joined in January, March or
September. Cambridge examination courses
at Anglolang are pure Cambridge courses
and students are not mixed with general
English students. Cambridge students receive
25 hours of Cambridge examination classes
per week (incl. breaks) in a group with a
maximum of 8 examination students.
Anglolang can also provide combination
courses of Intensive English + private tuition
to prepare for Cambridge English Key (KET),
Cambridge English Preliminary (PET) and
Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE).

GMAT / TOEFLAnglolang’s private tuition or combination
courses allow students to prepare for GMAT
and/or TOEFL. GMAT/TOEFL students are
able to choose from 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
or 35 hours’ private tuition per week (incl.
breaks).
TRINITY GESEAnglolang provides Trinity GESE for groups
upon request.
IELTS The IELTS course can be joined on any
Monday for any duration, offering maximum
flexibility. Lessons are a combination of
Intensive English and examination classes.
The morning Intensive English classes are
topic-based lessons, focusing on the four
skills as well as grammar and vocabulary
development. Afternoon examination classes
focus on examination strategy and test
papers. This course offers 25 hours’ tuition
per week (incl. breaks), of which 5 hours are
examination classes.

championship golf courseScarborough has two first-class golf courses,
and there are several others close to
Scarborough, including the famous Ganton
championship golf course. North Cliff Golf
Course has a cliff top start and finish, with
stunning views of both the North Bay and
Scarborough Castle. Similarly South Cliff Golf
Course has coastal views. With little rough
and few trees, the greens are well shaped to
provide a challenge.
In co-operation with Scarborough’s golf clubs,
Anglolang offers the opportunity to improve
English and play golf. English is practised in the
morning and then golf can be played in the
afternoon. Professional golf coaching can also
be organised.
experienced golferFor golfers with an official handicap, the

5 green fees (which can be exchanged for
private coaching sessions)
unlimited playing time on the course
transport to the golf course
the beginnerFor inexperienced golfers, without an

a magnificent regionAnglolang’s location provides an opportunity to see beautiful places in and around Scarborough. Yorkshire is a magnificent region with something for everyone to enjoy. It has historic castles and cathedrals; vibrant cities; small picturesque villages and traditional seaside towns.
Because the region has some of England’s most stunning scenery, it has increasingly become a location for TV and films. Scenes from “Harry Potter” were, for example, filmed on the North York Moors.

the UK. From Scarborough, it is easy to
visit major cities in the UK at the weekend,
allowing the week for focusing on studies and
interests in Scarborough. The following cities

Hosts help students to feel at home in a new

atmosphere. The emphasis is personal and

on budget, a room with or without bathroom
can be chosen. Breakfast is included and
