Interesting facts

The pandas eyes have a slit-like pupil unlike other bears. Even though pandas are carnivorous, they still eat

bamboo for their food. Their paws are unusual. They have 5 clawed fingers and

an extra bone that looks like a thumb. But this not actually a thumb. It is a long wrist bone which works like a thumb.

Giant pandas do not roar like other bears. They have 11 different types calls, 4 which they use in mating

Pandas fur is woolly, thick and water proof.

The cause that made them endangered.

This species has become endangered because of humans. Humans are destroying their habitats very quickly by clear cutting. Now there is only about 1,000-1,500 pandas living in the wild (in China) and 120 in zoos and breeding centers.

How can we save them?

• We can stop clear cutting to save their habitats.• We can donate to conservation organizations such

as WWF(world wild life fund)• We can start an environmental club at our school

(IFS) to help save pandas
