Essential Question

Question: Answer:

What do we need to know about these people to understand what makes them unique?

In this country close friends greet each other by hugging or kissing on both cheeks or by rather by brushing cheeks as they kiss the air. Friends of the same gender often walk arm in arm in public. One covers the mouth when yawning or sneezing. Busy schedules in urban areas require that most visits be plans. Another thing Italians do that makes their culture unique is that if visiting before supper they are expected to stay, if they choose not to it is considered impolite, especially in the south. Also, while eating it is also inappropriate fro them to place their hands in their lap is considered impolite.

Current eventsItaly has found itself at the center of mounting

economic concerns in recent days. Fears that it might default on its huge debt have pushed up the cost of government borrowing and led Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to address lawmakers in a bid to reassure the markets. Stock markets in the United States and Europe have taken a dip amid anxiety that the kind of troubles seen elsewhere in Europe might drag Italy down, too.
