Feast of the Assumption of Mary
This beautiful Feast of the Assumption of
Mary celebrates the belief that God
assumed the Blessed Virgin Mary into
heaven following her death. This feast
assures us that we, too, who were baptized
into Christ's death and shared in His Body
through the Eucharist, also will experience
a resurrection of our bodies. If Mary can
end up in heaven body and soul, so can we
share in her humanity.
This feast of Mary is one of the six holy
days of obligation. Masses for this holy
day are:
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 14, 6:00 PM
Immaculate Conception, Millhousen
THURSDAY, AUGUST 15, 6:00 PM
St. John, Osgood
LUKE 12:32-48
Lord, you tell us to wait for your return. Help us
to wait. Help us find you in the Eucharist, help
us find you in those we love, in strangers we
meet, in the poor and needy. Let us find you in
our sleep, in our work and in our play, to watch
for you in our laughter and our tears, in the deep
souls of everyone we meet every day, in the dusk
and in the dark of night. Please knock, or rather,
come right in. (Copyright © 2019, Anne M. Osdieck. All

God Bless Your Giving!
“Serve your God straightforwardly; be faithful to him,
and don’t worry about anything else. For it’s a great
truth that if you ‘seek first the kingdom of God and his
justice, all other things’ – material things, the means –
‘will be given you besides.’ He will provide them for
you.” ~ St. Josemaria Escriva
August 11 – Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
STEWARDSHIP – Am I waiting for the “right”
time to become a good steward? Do I plan to share
my time and talent “later?” Today’s Gospel warns
those who are procrastinating about stewardship to
be prepared – “at an hour you do not expect, the
Son of Man will come.”
SANCTUARY LIGHT – The sanctuary light will
burn August 11 through 18 for Karen and Heather
Cain.
BAPTIZED IN CHRIST – Congratulations to
Rori Dawn Simon, the daughter of Kane and
Megan Simon, who was baptized on Saturday,
August 3. May she walk in the ways of the Lord as
He delights in her.
THANK YOU – Joyce Muckerheide would like to
"thank the parish for the meals, visits, and many
uplifting cards during my recovery. We have an
amazing parish that gave me the strength I needed!"
WEDDING – Aaron Harmeyer and Molly
Trenkamp will celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage
in St. Maurice Church on Saturday, August 17, 1:00

RELIGIOUS ED – The start of Religious Ed for
Grades 6 through 12 will begin Sunday, September
8, 8:30 to 9:45 AM.
RAFFLE PRIZES – As you may have read in a
previous bulletin, after completing the raffle survey,
the decision was made to continue the fall raffle at
least for another year.
Therefore, we are collecting prizes during this
month of August for our Fall Raffle. If you would
like to donate a prize by August 31, please let us
know by emailing Sister Shirley at
[email protected], or by texting her at 812-
621-7420. You can also inform Jack Ferkinhoff at
765-309-4769, or John Glick at 812-900-
1503. Thank you, and may God continue to bestow
His blessings upon this parish.

may be interested in studying the Catholic faith,
please encourage them to call the parish office
during this month of August.
UPCOMING EVENTS – Thursday, August 22,

Tuesday, August 29, 7:00 PM – Finance

Sunday, September 15, 5:00 PM – Annual
Parish Celebration. The Feast of St. Maurice is

on that day, we will have our parish celebration on
September 15.
BAKE SALE – The Mary & Martha Circle will
have a bake sale after our Masses on Saturday,
September 7, and Sunday, September 8. Donations
of baked items will be needed. All proceeds of the
bake sale will go to our students who will be
attending the NCYC trip in November.
CHURCH SECURITY – Some months ago a
session was held in our parish hall on the security of
our buildings. Following that meeting, Sr. Shirley
and two parishioners attended a five-hour seminar
given by Detective Ethan McGivern from
Indianapolis. During this period of time, the
Archdiocese also sent suggestions for church
security.
Last Monday, a committee of parishioners met to
begin discussion on what can be done at the parish
level. You will be informed as to what possible
changes we will make.
PARISH LIBRARY – Two new sets of DVDs
were placed in the library this past week:
“Gratitude: Seeing as Gift" and "Where is God
in the Thick of Suffering?” We discontinued
signing out all materials. Simply take them home
and then return them after using the materials. The
library will be open before and after the Masses.
THE LORD’S LAUGHTER – “My 4-year-old
grandniece, Ellery, who lives in Colorado, likes to
run around half-dressed. Her Mom is British and
her Dad is American.
“When Grandma was visiting, she was getting
the kids ready to go on an outing. Ellery came out
of her room wearing leggings and a shirt, but there
were no underwear lines under the leggings.
“Grandma asked, 'Did you put on your knickers
(underwear)? You can't go out without them.’”
“Ellery quickly replied, 'I'm wearing camouflage
knickers!’” (Rev. Barbara Bartholomew, Grace Lutheran Church, Wadsworth, OH)
