Gold Rush

John Sutter was having a sawmill built on the American river north of Sacramento California. James Marshall was hired to inspect the ditch his crew was digging. One day he saw a glimpse of something sparkling so he picked it up and it was gold. Sutter tried to keep it a secret but the word got out soon people from all over the world from Europe, China, Australia, and South America. Oregon Trail

Pioneers set out for Oregon they were attracted by the tales of wheat that grew taller than a man and turnips five feet around. As many pioneers set out they called it Oregon fever.
