This is the screen for the server manager. This is what I’ll be using to create users for my network. I
then select “Manage users and computers in Active Directory”.
An Active Directory Users and Computers window then pops out. If you select the Users folder, it
will show you a list of users and groups that’s already been added to the network, and you should be
able to manage it.
If you click the single headed button from the control bar, that small window should pop out and it
should let you create and put all the information of the user that is needed.
On the page where you are creating your password, you should tick the box that says “User cannot
change password” because not everyone is good at remembering password and might forget it if
they try changing it, so better leave it to the default one. Also tick the box that says “Password never
expires” so the admin does not have to keep on making new passwords for users.
Here shows the confirmation of the user’s details on creating its account. You then click the finish
button to confirm and create it.

This is the second user I have created for the network.
-
-
This is the third user I have created for the network.
The three new users I have created are already on the list of users.
- I then added the Administrators, Domain Admins and Domain Users to let this user access this
groups and also to become an admin.
- I then select a group for the second user.
- I also added the second user to the Domain Users group where I added the admin/first user earlier.
But I’m not going to add the second and third users to the Administrator as I only need one admin.
- I did the same thing for the third user, added it to the music and Domain Users group.
- I opened the Shared Folders from the network drive, and then added a folder called music.
I’ve added the music group to it to let everyone from that group access the music folder. The type of
permission I have given the users is read only.
-
-
- I’ve created a new folder called not music and I’ve also added the music group to it but gave no
permission at all, I’ve denied all access for this folder to test if permission works for the users.
-
I need 5 folders based on the requirements so I made three more and gave each different access
permissions.
I was able to create a new folder to prove I was logged in as the administrator.
Opened Printers and Faxes and going to add a printer.
Once you’ve selected Add Printer, this window will show up. Here shows some information about
adding a printer.
I then selected Local printer attached to this computer to set up network printer that is not attached
to a print server.
I then selected LPT1 for the port. I then proceed.
On this window I had to find HP for the manufacturer and HP LaserJet 4 for the printer.
Name the printer the same as what printer you’ve selected on the previous page.
I chose to share the printer to let users from the music group in the network access it.
I then typed in the name of the location of the printer, which is the server room.
No I did not choose to print a test page.
Here shows the information I have inputted about the printer, I then clicked the finish button after
scanning through the details and that everything is right.
I went to the Device Settings of the printer properties to change everything to British settings,
which is A4 for paper size.
Here shows the basic settings of the printer.
I added a local printer and selected HP LaserJet 4 from the server room.
But Windows could not find its driver so I’ll have to look for one on the internet to install it.
A proxy will be used from here to give users access to the internet from the computers.
This is where the details are being filled out for the proxy server.
I chose a local binding and typed in the right IP address.
I then started the console mode.
This screen was displayed to show that the proxy is working.
From the internet options, I entered 192.168.0.1 for the IP address for the LAN settings.
The internet was able to connect and I was able to search Google.
I was also able to use the internet and got it working on Windows 7 computer.

I then added the printer named Generic / Text only on the network.
A test page was then sent to the printer. Also, this printer works on a FIFO method, so the first
document from the list will be the first one to be printed off.
I then added 3 more folders to meet the requirements.

These were the files I have added on each folder that I made.
