การเขียน Thesis Statement โดยเมื่อลมแรง…ใบไมก็รวง
[email protected] Thesis statement คืออะไร? ในการเขียนทุกคร้ังผูเขียนจะตองส่ือสารใหชัดเจนวาสารนั้นมีจุดมุงหมายและมีใจความหลักวาอะไร Thesis statement ก็คือใจความหลักนั่นเอง Thesis statement ท่ีดีควรมีลักษณะอยางไร? ในการเขียนเชิงวิชาการนั้น thesis statement ควรจะมีลักษณะเพ่ือเปนไปเพ่ือการถกเถียง (argumentative) ตัวอยางที่หลายๆ คนคงเคยชินกันคือ introduction ของขอสอบ TOEFL ที่มีโครงสรางเชน

To me, I believe that_____. นี่คือโครงสรางแบบทั่วไปที่ช้ีใหเห็นวามีหนึ่งหัวขอ แตมีหลายคนเห็น และความเห็นของผูเขียนคืออะไร ลองดูอีกตัวอยางนะครับ ใน “Family Guy and Freud: Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious” Antonia Peacocke ตองการแสดงใหเห็นวาโดยทั่วไปคนมักมองวาการตูนกับ Sigmund Freud (นักจิตวิทยาชาวตะวันตก) ไมมีความสัมพันธกัน แต Antonia ตองการส่ือวาจริงๆ แลวมันสัมพันธกัน ประโยคสุดทายของยอหนาแรก เธอเขียนวา:
“Whether you’re watching Living Lohan or the NewsHour, the likelihood is that you are not thinking of Sigmund Freud, even if you’ve heard of his book Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious. I say that you should be.”
และใน essay เธอจะอธิบายวาทําไมเราตอง (“should”) เห็นความสัมพันธระหวางการตูนกับ ฟรอยด Thesis statement ท่ีไมดีควรมีลักษณะอยางไร? ตัวอยางของ Thesis statement ที่ไมดีในงานเขียนเชิงวิชาการคือ thesis statement ที่ไม argumentative เชน
