Bridge the paragraphs!!Bridge the paragraphs!!What is a transition?What is a transition?

A transition is an element that smoothes the leap from one paragraph to the next.

There should be a bridge created between the descriptions of the outside and inside.

You can make this transition in two places: in the concluding sentence of your previous paragraph and in the topic sentence of the next paragraph.

Lets brainstorm how a transition between these two paragraphs might look.

In a story the bridge is subtly built, using a phrase like, “On the other hand…” would break the mood!

Strong FinishesStrong FinishesStrong concluding sentences are

important, especially when writing a persuasive piece! ◦Phrases such as “in conclusion” and “

in light of this evidence,” are good, but could sound too formal for your writing!

◦Summarizing facts, and referring back to a question asked in the introduction can be effective as well.

◦Listen to the following paragraph.
