DHCP Relay agent

Requirement

2 servers and 1 Client (1server for DNS + DHCP, 1Server for Router, 1 Xp for Client)

· IP configuration:

· 192.168.2.1/24 for DNS+DHCP

· 192.168.2.2/24 for Router

· 10.10.10.1/24 for Router as Default Gateway to client computer

· 172.16.1.221/24 for Default Gateway to access to Internet

· Configure Router as DHCP relay agent

· Use NIC: Vmnet2 to server and Vmnet3 to client

There are 4 Zones

1. Forward Lookup Zone: amara.lan

2. Reverse lookup Zone: 192.168.1.zone, 10.10.10.zone and 172.16.1.zone

! (192.168.1.zone Zone for Server),(10.10.10.zone Zone for Lan Client),(172.16.1.zone Zone for access Internet)

There are two scoop in DHCP

1. 10.10.10.0/24 scoop for Client

a. Include IP Range : 10.10.10.10 10.10.10.19

b. Option Router: 10.10.10.1

c. DNS Domain Name : “amara.lan” , DNS Server 192.168.1.1

2. 192.168.1.0/24 scoop for Staff

a. Include IP Range : 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.19

b. Option Router : 192.168.1.2

c. DNS Domain Name : “amara.lan”, DNS Server 192.168.1.1

Router

We must to add 3 Interface for, Client, Server and Interface to access to Internet

Configure IP Address for all Interface

Put DNS Suffix in Server for update with DNS Client

Client XP

1. T est IP range 192.168.1.1/24

DNS UPDATE

In DHCP we can show range ip that user get from server

2. Test IP range 10.0.0.0/24

In DHCP we can show the IP that Client who get

DNS Update
