Schist & Schisms, a way of personal parlance I created this blog to collect an assemble all the fragments that have metathesized themselves over the course of my, as of yet, short lifetime. I picked this title because it has a lot of meaning. Schist is one of those words for me as a child held in me an utmost fascination. It began when I started homeschool at the age of 9. I learned the word from an educational software series "The Magic Schoolbus" where I could learn about geology in all it's various forms; how things are pushed, pulled, and pressured into transforming their composition into something completely new and analogous to it. It is a search for truth in a world of partial-truths. My life I feel, is a constant translation and I feel the phrase Dubito ergo cogito ergo sum (English: "I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am") sums this idea a bit more succinctly, because I do not wish to belie a possible truth by getting lost in the words.

I have had a serious difficulty in relating to others and the world my entire life, as do we all in varying degrees, but often times I wonder how well I am able to apply the 'Theory of Mind' in practice, while at the same time being inspired by some rather remarkably empathic persons.

These are the 'schisms' in my life and are constant struggles for me as I commit myself to an attempt to make sense of and rectify all the division and doubt I felt while going on about my life.

I was inspired to start this blog as a means to chronicle things I have written that brought me to a place of peace and stillness of mind, from periods of doubt and anxiety. At a glance it would seem that the two hemispheres of my brain were at

an impasse, thus relieving the other while his better half takes over.

It came to my attention recently at the age of 24 that I was dealing with a neuro-developmental disability (NLD), non-verbal learning impairment as I'd rather call it, that had gone undiagnosed most likely due to my early homeschooling, but started to cause me a great deal of hardship once I transferred into the University of Washington, wherein finding I had a much larger deficit in academia, social interaction, and life than I had previously thought, as I had recently transferred from a two-year institution.

I have always held my difficulties in school in lieu of a few idiosyncratic characteristics, but these same idiosyncrasies had their way of being misinterpreted time and time again as misgivings and character flaws.

How hard it is to share your reality, your perceptions with another, when they have already made up their mind, or have no way of understanding altogether, because you don't operate in the same shared reality. Before this I had found ways to cope with these feelings of anxiety and the social isolation I felt through philosophical works, gaining much needed inspiration and acceptance of my situation, the quintessential hermit and wanderer (in spirit and in practice).

In this new modality of plausible autism: is it a form of social control over my mind? I do think differently now because of the diagnosis, as it could preclude to Asperger's. Suffice to say I haven't delved very deeply into that notion (social control), but it does impress itself upon my thoughts from time to time. I think a better question may be, at present, "Does calling a

problem by name help our minds put things into perspective categorically, allowing better clarity and insight into our lives?" Or is it mere obfuscation?

Life is full of contradictions and perhaps one possible way to make sense of them is to see what binds them together. Comparative analysis is my forte at this point, so I'll mod what I can from the psych. eval. and see how it fits; holistically, towards bringing my life back to a state of peace in an ever changing landscape of thought and feeling, sown with doubt as well as moments of unassailable certainty.

This new compositional expose' has shaded many things in my life a much different hue, to the point where in the act of reevaluating events and episodes in my life, I am actually changing the narrative of who I am, my egocentric self. Do things make more sense than they did before, or have they simply reinterpreted themselves into a language and context more people understand? I am fooling myself so that can have a life that can pass as normal?

It is a complex thing, because at the same time, by choosing this narrative, this 'metamorphose of self', this schist, I have begun, systematically, to disassemble and push aside my previous schism and state of conscious living (identity). This is a confusing process I feel, because of the amount of energy it took to think on it.

I wish to document the 'metamorphoses', the schist, that has built upon itself the very foundational elements that I have used to deal with the 'schisms', so that I can make sense of the details and apply it to the whole of my life, in order to unify and make known their various bits that I have

obsessed over, only then to ostensibly lose track of where they originally traced themselves from, during the translation of one modality into the next. I don't want to lose sight of that, which is, intangibly--me, solely to cope with misfortune and failure. Once the ugly duckling in the Dorset village of Ewedown, Tamara Drewe returns to sell her late mother's house, now a glamorous journalist with a life-changing nose job. She awakens feelings in sexy old flame, Andy, the decent odd job man at pretentious author Nicholas Hardiment's writers' school and in Nicholas himself, a serial philanderer who cheats on his loyal wife Beth. But Tamara has a new man in her life, Ben, an obnoxious rock drummer whose marriage proposal she accepts, to the dismay of local girl - and Ben's biggest fan - Jody. Jody's efforts to sabotage the engagement lead to Tamara, on the rebound and finding Andy in the arms of another, allowing Nicholas to have his wicked way with her, and also allowing it to be photographed and sent to a distraught Beth. Beth's secret admirer, American writer Glen, confronts Nicholas out in the fields, but Ben's dog Boss has got loose and has caused a local farmer's cattle to stampede towards them... Ewedown is an idyllic, little English countryside village where writers retreat to seek inspiration, and peace and quiet. Or at least it was idyllic until Tamara Drewe returned home.

The stunningly beautiful Gemma Arterton plays Tamara Drewe. Her presence immediately sparks the interest of the local men, and the bored, local teenage girls who are looking for excitement to spice up their mundane town life. She is so sexy that she has her choice of affairs, but as usual, it's always the asshole who gets the girl. Just as it looks like Tamara is going to settle down with the rock and roll drummer Ben (Dominic Cooper) to interrupt the reserved lifestyle of the village, life gets complicated for everybody who wants something with Tamara.

"Tamara Drewe" is a comedy of affairs, complete with foul language, quirky characters and the irreverent British humour. Arterton sparkles as Tamara, but it's less about the characters and more about who will bed who and what will the consequences be? It sometimes seems to forget the age of its audience when it goes for the comedy of teenage girls getting into mischief, but it's also exactly what you would expect for an odd comedy about a group of writers and one hot girl.
