School-Wide Service Project: Ayla’s Acres

The first-grade classes are spearheading a KES community service project to benefit Ayla's Acres Pet Sanctuary. As a school, we would like to collect cat and dog food throughout the month of February as we recognize our Pillar of Caring. Your donations of both bagged and canned food are appreciated. AVID Planner/Agenda

Thank you, parents, for reviewing and signing the AVID planner each evening. This organizational tool (OT) is expected to be completed by the student daily. A SMART goal for the week is written on the left page, above Mon. Look to see if your child has included the goal, daily homework (including title of book read for homework), and AR points from the classroom data board.

Homework-Wk. of Jan. 29-Feb. 2 (with standards)

standards).

Coach Allen will share information about Jump Rope for Heart during PE class on Feb. 1. This worthwhile event supports The American Heart Association and is a perfect companion to our second-grade science unit of study. (Standard SC.2.L.14.1: Distinguish human body parts (brain, heart, lungs, stomach, muscles, and skeleton) and their basic functions.

Accelerated Reader (AR) Updates

Finn and Ethan have each reached their first AR goal of the third grading period, and are aiming higher. Way to go! As of Jan. 25, the class has read a combined total of 2,663, 047 words and 1,074 books as shown by passed AR tests.
