COMIC STRIP The PURPOSE of this assignment is to identify the most important moments and to show cause-effect relationships and your understanding of the importance of the organizational structure in the way events are sequenced in a book. DIRECTIONS: Use six frames, (or more if you choose) handmade or use Comic Life software program on the computer. Draw in the frame box what happens, what you “see” in the text. Be specific. Capture the action and important details of the moment. At the end of your 6 frames, explain in a well written paragraph or more: why these events are important, what you are aiming to help the reader of your comic strip understand about the book, and how the book was personally meaningful for you. Frame 1: Show the character’s physical and personality traits. Place the character in the most important setting he/she is in at the novel’s start. Frame 2: Show the central complication or problem of the story at the novel’s start and how the character responds. Frame 3: Show the central complication or problem of the story as the novel develops & how the character responds creating further tension. Frame 4: Show the central complication or problem of the story as the novel develops & how the character shifts and others shift in response, creating further tension. Frame 5: Show the defining moment of the novel , the climax & how the character responds creating a shift in the character’s perspective. Frame 6: Show how the character is changed at the novel’s end. OR Option 1 B Frame 1: Show the character’s relationship to others.

COMIC STRIPThe PURPOSE of this assignment is to identify the most important moments and to show cause-effect relationships and your understanding of the importance of the organizational structure in the way events are sequenced in a book.

Frame 1: Show the character’s relationship to others.

Frame 2: Show the personality strength(s) of the character through a scene the character is involved in. Show the physical characteristics by the way you draw your character.

Frame 3: Show the weakness of the character that causes tension in the novel.

Frame 4: Show the defining moment of the novel , the climax & how the character responds creating a shift in the character’s perspective.

Frame 5: Show what the essential question is for this character. (How is the character changed at the novel’s end that helps him to answer his/her essential question.)

Frame 6: What is a metaphor for your character? Create a cartoon that uses this metaphor.

Notice the importance of the dialog to develop the understanding of the situation.

If you prefer, you can create more than six frames and turn the different required frames into a series of frames as above, to get across your idea.
