COMPENSATION & BENEFITS MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

The Compensation & Benefits Manager guides the design, development, implementation and administration of competitive and legally compliant compensation and benefit programs. The incumbent will also monitor salary structures, ensure benefit competitiveness and help ensure that policies, procedures and programs are in alignment with the Company’s overall strategic objective and vision. This position develops, recommends and installs approved, new or modified plans and employee benefits policies and supervises administration of existing plans.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Compensation:

Prepare proactive analysis and recommendations on subjects such as bonus plans, executive compensation, RSU’s, overall compensation structure.  

Conduct job analysis and document job content upon request as well as on an on-going basis to fully understand Company jobs and unique positions with the organization for the ability to confidently recommend job design structures and build out formal titling, fundamental leveling, and supporting guides for employees, managers, and HR. Reach out to HR colleagues to build internal knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Evaluate jobs against internal data and external market intelligence for validity, as applicable to the oil and gas industry.

Establish and maintain pay ranges by submitting and collecting data through third party market surveys as well as consulting with leadership and managers to validate ranges. Make recommendations for change to ranges based on compensation philosophy and strategy.

Ensure compensation related programs are compliant with various related compensation labor laws and regulations. Keep up with best practices and ensures we bring forward current and relevant practices to our compensation programs.

Evaluate our pay structures with fundamental standard to semi-complex compensation assessment techniques, statistics, and metrics as well as utilizing compensation analytics in Workday.

Prepare compensation related reports and dashboards with accuracy and work closely with HRIS and Payroll in support of compensation programs and maintaining HR data integrity.

Benefits:

Evaluate and compare existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information.

Plan, develop and/or participate in area and industry surveys. Analyze results of surveys and develop specific recommendations for review by management.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS MANAGER

Develop specifications for new plans or modify existing plans to maintain company's competitive position in labor market.

Develop census data and solicit insurance companies for quotations. Evaluates quotation and make recommendations to management.

Implement approved new plans or changes to existing plans by preparing announcement materials, plan summary documents and other media for communicating plans to employees. Conduct employee enrollment meetings and configure HRIS with enrollment information.

Prepare and execute benefits documentation, such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees and other external administrative agencies to affect changes in benefits program. Ensure prompt and accurate compliance.

Ensure company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Affordable Care Act. Supervise preparation of reports, applications, forms and returns required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies. Review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management.

Handle escalated benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.

Supervise maintenance of enrollment and claims records for all benefits plans.

Professional, motivated, assertive, organized and willing to learn new tasks. Able to adapt, be dependable, have strong problem-solving skills with a keen sense of

understanding the big picture.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS MANAGER

Highly self-motivated and dedicated, serious work ethic with ability to think and adapt quickly.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university. 

Five to eight years of experience in Benefits/Compensation SHRM-CP/SCP, CCP or CEBS accreditation preferred Demonstrated experience working with an HR database (we use Workday).  Must have intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Strong experience in designing and delivering Benefit and Compensation plans. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leadership Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to use a computer or phone for extended periods Basic use of office equipment such as copier and fax machines Ability to lift 10 pounds occasionally Ability to concentrate Ability to sit for long periods of time Ability to travel frequently

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, iPads, iPhones, laptop computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is mainly a sedentary position. Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours of work will are generally Monday through Friday from 8:30 – 5:30 pm but may vary due to the workload and needs of the company. A half-day Friday schedule is available as well.
