Improving a patient’s quality of life is both the core philosophy and driving mission of Seattle, Washington–based Dermatology Associates. Since 2004, the company has provided exceptional clinical and cosmetic dermatology services, such as laser skin treatment and facial rejuvenation services, and continues to perform leading clinical research to help patients overcome chronic or reoccurring skin conditions. This spirit of innovation and commitment to quality has spurred ongoing success for the company, which currently averages 120 patient visits per day. But to continue to provide unsurpassed customer experiences, the company needed new ways to improve productivity so that its staff could accomplish more in less time. With the Location Aware Printing feature in Windows 7, users can quickly connect to the right printer, regardless of which network they’re using, without having to manually select it. Once a user defines the default printer in each network environment, the feature will automatically select and print to the right printer, even when a user moves from one network to the next.

“Before, you’d have to scroll through a network printer map every time you changed networks,” says Dr. Jenkin. “Location Aware Printing eliminates that process, saving time and energy.”

Enhancing the Way Users WorkAero desktop personalization, a feature of Windows 7, includes tools such as Snap, which enables users to snap windows side-by-side and view them simultaneously. For Dermatology Associates, this has provided a substantial benefit in terms of better serving its clients.

“The Snap feature is huge for us,” says Rebekah Allison, Administrator for Dermatology Associates. “This is the best and easiest way to show before-and-after photos to our patients—they can immediately see the difference in their appearance.”

The HP ProBook 5310m has also made an impact on Dermatology Associates employees. Turning Challenges into OpportunitiesWindows 7 Professional includes Problem Steps Recorder, which is a feature that enables users to record their interactions with programs and applications and quickly send this information off to a technician. “With Problem Steps Recorder, we can re-create IT issues and share them with technicians, rather than try to explain them,” says Allison. “It saves so much time—and frustration.”

Dr. Jenkin adds, “We’re also thinking of using Problem Steps Recorder as a training tool, which will reduce the time needed to create manuals and increase information retention on the user side.”

Employees have discovered a new security option for their PCs with HP Credential Manager, which includes features such as the biometric fingerprint reader that helps add a critical layer of system protection.

“The biometric fingerprint scan is a great feature,” says Allison. “It’s clear that HP has our security in mind. It has made us feel more confident that sensitive information will not be compromised.”
