During this block in Roots of Empathy, Primary 5/6 have been learning what makes us unique. We discussed the different things that make us unique such as our religions, hobbies, families, interests and the parts of our personality that make us who we are. When baby Lexie came to visit us, we asked her mother Elaine what Lexie’s unique personality traits were and we learnt that she loves to listen to baby shark as well as crawling everywhere in her house, even into her dog’s water bowl sometimes. We asked Elaine how she decided on Lexie’s name and what things Lexie likes and doesn’t like. We were then given the chance to feed baby Lexie. We gave her foods which she had tried before such as banana and cheerios but we also let her taste some new food that she had not tasted before such as noodles and avacodo. We were then lucky enough to try some of the food as well to help us learn what we do and do not like. Through all of this, we learnt that we are all similar in some ways but there are also lots of things that are different about us which make us all unique.
