Our project is about helping the organization to use social media to increase engagement with VCU students and create a platform to publish research and information to

the students in a way they find interesting .

Goals

The goal is to for the university community to get to know

COBE. Social media platforms are the best way to achieve

this because they are used widely among students and

the young audience trying to be reached. Our hope is that

COBE will become known as a trusted source of

information about health and awareness

Social Media platforms:Facebook

Facebook is the biggest platform in the world, so we started to establish a page on Facebook as it is more accessible than other accounts on Facebook such as personnel account. The strategies we followed on Facebook were using links of different platforms such as Instagram and Twitter during posting on Facebook. And to draw more traffic we used the hashtag #VCU and we made a specific hashtag for our non-profit, which is

#VCUCOBE .And we concentrated on visuals, because it is more effective since we already have a photographer in our team .We designed a Facebook picture and cover and

published the first 15 second video on Instagram and attached it to Facebook. The video was talking about what stresses students out and how they can deal with it because COBE (college behavioral and emotional health) is more concerned with psychological issues of health such as stress and anxiety. https://www.facebook.com/vcu.cobe

TwitterTwitter is an important platform especially for students as it provides a special way of engagement. I recommend you to continue following the important people, other organizations, especially those who have the same goals or subject and VCU students. Keep re-twitting and replaying as much as you can to keep the engagement and people will keep following the account . I also recommend to use the hashtags #VCUCOBE, #RVA, #VCU and links to other platforms. The posts should be 2-3 each day and its should include different information than the other platforms. InstagramOne of the main goals that COBE specified is to create a way to publish research and information about health and wellness in a way that VCU students will find it interesting and want to get involved and interact. One way that we thought to do this was to anthropomorphize the stick

figure COBE .Through the use of Instagram we created an identity of COBE by placing him in identifiable places around campus as if he’s another student. The purpose of this is to make the figure relatable and familiar to students on campus so that when COBE has something to say, students will listen and find COBE as a trustworthy source of information. Instagram is a widely used platform among the

demographic of people that COBE is trying to reach. It’s a platform that is good for a casual conversation with VCU’s community and a good way for students to interact with COBE. We had COBE take a picture with these two personal trainers at the gym, then tagged them in a post. This not only promotes fitness but gets students involved and familiar with the

organization. Instagram is also a good place for challenges. You can ask students to post a picture with #VCUCOBE in exchange for some kind of incentive like a free t-shirt. If you take a look at some of the posts so far we not only used #VCUCOBE but #VCU and #RVA as well. By doing this the photo has a chance to be viewed by a wider public because these two hashtags are commonly used.

Throughout the year as COBE is introduced more and more, you should continue to photograph COBE around campus with students and have him participate in popular activities. Posting once a week should be a good amount. Post photos of:COBE around campusWith studentsBrief tips from COBE about health and wellness Short videos of what COBE (the figure/ the organization) is up to Photos of COBE eventsInstagram primarily is a good way to relate to students and for lighthearted quick info referring audiences to platforms of Facebook or Twitter for more serious or in depth information through Instagram would be a good idea.

MeasurementWe suggested to our non-profit for the

management of their posts to use the Everypost social media tool because it enables them to reach all the platforms at

one time and that's

way better than appointing a person who is responsible for each platform. The tool enables them to manage all the posts at one time and only by one person. 

Concerning the measurement on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we suggested that they should use Twitter Analytics for measurements on Twitter and Facebook Insight for measurements on Facebook.For general measurements we suggested Sprout that enables them to measure on different platforms.

Future PlansFor future plans with COBE, we recommend getting the application Everypost. This will be used to maximize every post on all of the platforms. For each platform, you can

customize every post for all the platforms that you want to make for COBE with just one post. It gives you the ability to customize your content to suit the style and audience of each social media platform. This is very helpful to avoid cross postings. With Everypost, you can post to as many social pages as you want. You have the option to modify each of them, such as adding or removing hash tags. You can use each social media's features and not have to worry about cross posting the same content everywhere

and can post on a set schedule. Each platform can be set to post at different times. It is helpful when you don't have time to post at the most affective and active times during the day. Also, Everypost will have a way to measure followers and activity on the platforms. This feature will be coming soon to the application. We recommend this tool because it will save a lot of time making posts and make sure you keep up with all of the platforms .

During the SOVO fair, as we have discussed before, we think handing out the t-shirts and challenge cards would be helpful in spreading awareness at the beginning to welcome COBE to VCU. In order to get a t-shirt, the students must take a picture with the 3D COBE, or the t-shirt, or answering the challenge question on the back of the card. Of course

they must use the hashtag #vcucobe. The challenge card will be questions that are more personal based, like how much do you sleep at night and if it's not enough what can you do to change it? What is an unhealthy habit you would like to kick? Or what stresses you out and how do you cope with it? This will get students to feel like COBE cares about their health and get them to think about ways to improve it.

For future postings on our social media sites, we recommend that you use COBE as the one to be making the posts at times. Have COBE be a spokesperson to certain information that you want published. Also continue to post Instagram pictures of COBE around campus meeting students and being healthy. Remember that COBE is like a student too and represents each of us. After we create our videos for COBE, we hope that you will be able to boost the video on Facebook and post it to the VCU website and or VCU Facebook page if possible.

something special during this time. Have students hand out pins near the compass. The pin's will be a lot like the breast cancer awareness ribbons but in the color blue, so they have a walking logo on their jackets. It might also be a good idea for students to feel like they are making a difference in the community and ask that they make donations in the form of writing letters or cards to people, or children, who are sick in the local hospitals. They can write a letter, card, make a painting, or bring flowers. Fliers can be posted up a week in advance and the students can drop off their uplifting donations to COBE's office.

We have posted a video on Facebook asking students to send us videos to our email of what stresses them out and how they cope with it. For the future, you can take the videos that are posted or ask students and create your own videos combining it into a video. We hope this will get students to interact with our platforms and be aware of their own life’s stress. It will hopefully make students feel comfortable with their difficulties and not feel alone as a VCU student.
