Introduction

The Family Portal is a site that allows parents access to current information about their students’ progress and performance. Additionally, Edgenuity offers the ability for teachers to have progress reports automatically e-mailed to parents. This document provides information on configuring and using the Family Portal, as well as configuring automated progress emails.

In order to configure Family Portal access or automated progress emails, users must have the Edit Students permission associated with their accounts.

Progress Email

1. In the Parent Contact Information section of a student’s information page, click the Add Email link.

2. Enter the parent’s email address (or students’ email address) into the Email field.3. Click the checkbox marked Email Progress, and select either the Daily, Weekly, or Monthly option from the

Frequency drop-down menu.4. Click the Save Parent button.

5. Click the Update Student button at the bottom of the page.

The parent (or student) will receive an automated email that provides a graphical progress report for each course the student is currently enrolled in.

Family Portal

1. In the Parent Contact Information section of a student’s information page, click the Add Email link.2. Enter the parent’s email address into the Email field.3. Click the Enable radio button and make note of the Activation Code displayed.4. Click the Save Parent button.

If the email address has not previously been registered, a confirmation message will appear. Click the OK button to generate the account.

If the email address is already linked to a different student, a warning will appear. If the parent’s name provided for the “new” student is different than what was previously provided, the alert will point this out. Clicking OK will automatically update the parent’s name to the original parent’s name associated with the original student.

Click Update Student the button at the bottom of the page.

The parent will receive an automated email message with instructions on how to register on the Family Portal.

Please note that in order for parents to be able to register on the Family Portal, they will need to have the activation code provided to them. The activation code is not provided in the email that the parent receives.

The activation code is a security feature to prevent student information from being made available to unintended parties. The activation code is not included in the automated email message that parents receive due to the potential for incorrect email addresses unintentionally being entered with the parent’s information.

Family Portal Setup and Use

The Family Portal can be accessed at http://learn.edgenuity.com/family/. The parent/guardian will receive an email notification stating they have been given access to their student’s account.

Click that link in your email to start the registration process. You’ll want to enter in your email address and the activation code given to you by the teacher. Again, this activation code is not in the email thread (due to FERPA regulations). If you do not have an Activation Code, please contact your student’s teacher.

Once the parent has logged into the Family Portal, they will see basic information about the student, as well as information explaining the different reports available including the Attendance Log and Progress Report.
