Primary 4 Home Learning - fortnight commencing Monday 29 th January; Home Learning jotters due back in on Thursday 8 th February Literacy and English Spelling Gold and Platinum Common Words have been assessed and updated individual Common Word spelling lists are coming home again this week. It’s really important that these words are embedded by the end of the session, so please keep consolidating at home. All groups are now working on common spelling patterns and rules. Spelling words should be practised each day using an activity from the Spelling Menu – you will not remember the words by copying them out once into your Home Learning jotter. As we are now learning/practising to join our handwriting in class the expectation is that this will be carried through to home learning and that there will be some written evidence of spelling practice recorded in the Home Learning jotter in neat joined handwriting. Pay close attention when you are reading – when people are speaking you can be even more expressive in your reading! Numeracy and Maths We now have access to Sumdog – you should all have stuck your password into your Home Learning jotter. Pick times tables. Pick one of the times tables you have been working on in school.

You should have stuck your username and password into your Home Learning jotter. Miss Gray sets the times tables you practise under some of the headings but you can practise all of your times tables under others. If I see that you are making good progress I can set you more challenging tables. Have fun!It is really important that you all work on your times tables facts at home. Miss Gray can show you the strategies, but you need to know your times tables facts if you are going to be able to use them!If you don’t have access to a computer at home, play some times tables games with someone else. Write some times tables questions on card and see who can answer them the fastest when you turn them over.
