This month in Reading/Language Arts: For the month of March, we will continue to prepare for upcoming PARCC testing at the end of March and Terra Nova testing at the beginning of May. We will be doing at least 2 Reading assignments on Study Island each week. We will also be reading books and non-fiction articles in class to celebrate Women’s History Month. We will be reviewing reading strategies such as understanding theme, finding the main idea/details, and making inferences. For LA we will be practicing opinion and narrative writing. We will also study figurative language. We also plan to read 2 stories from our Storytown Book – Hewitt Anderson’s Great Big Life and Juan Verdades . Assessment: Study Island assignments and open-book reading tests/assignments will be graded throughout the month. In Spelling: Students will practice the words at home in preparation for end of the week tests. Test Dates and Lessons: Mar. 3-L20/Mar. 10-L21/ Mar. 17-L22/ Mar. 24- L23/ Mar. 31-L24 This month in Math: This month our focus will be on understanding decimals – for example, adding, subtracting, comparing and ordering decimals, & finding tenths and hundredths of a centimeter. We will also continue to work on solving long division and multi-digit subtraction and multiplication problems, as well as multistep word problems. PLEASE continue to review multiplication facts at home. This week in Social Studies/Science: We will practice reading strategies with Science and Social Studies topics, including our study of Women’s History Month. Month at a Glance March

This month in Reading/Language Arts:

For the month of March, we will continue to prepare for upcoming PARCC testing at the end of March and Terra Nova testing at the beginning of May. We will be doing at least 2 Reading assignments on Study Island each week. We will also be reading books and non-fiction articles in class to celebrate Women’s History Month.
