Volunteer Position Description
AnimalKind College Advisory Board (ACAB)Nothing in this position description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to
this position at any time.Work Location Your college campusPurpose of the Position To engage college students in AnimalKind’s mission and programs in NC,
ultimately creating a larger collegiate volunteer base, a more knowledgeable student body on pet overpopulation and euthanasia, and reaching more clients for spay/neuter services.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Collaborate with other ACAB members, as well as the Outreach Director, to set semester goals for volunteer recruitment and events.
Schedule and attend at least two regional ACAB meetings and as many local meetings as necessary to reach semester goals.
Recruit a new volunteer to fill your seat as an ACAB member once you step down from the position.
Provide information about AnimalKind’s mission and programs to students around campus.
Conduct presentations, host events, and create partnerships throughout your school and city/county.
Host at least one AnimalKind event per semester. Set up and break down events. Spearhead volunteer recruitment efforts and serve as the initial
contact for potential volunteers. Enroll, orient, and provide ongoing support for new members Advertise AnimalKind around campus Assist with publicity and mailings Social media Assist with reproduction of flyers and other informational material Other duties as assigned
Level of Difficulty1=easy/5=demanding(physical, mental, emotional)
Physical difficulty is a 3; typically involves sitting at a table during meetings and distributing information, could involve lifting and transporting, setting up and taking down, for events
Mental difficulty is a 3; requires strong verbal communication skills, the ability to work without direct supervision, and excellent organization and planning skills.
Emotional difficulty is a 1; volunteers will rarely be faced with emotionally distressing situations, however there is always the potential for interactions with people and pets in less than ideal situations.
Expected EnvironmentalConditions
Typically inside, could have to deal with weather for outdoor events.
How Often Volunteers WorkOn-site
Volunteers will rarely work at the AnimalKind office. They will be on their own school campus.
