Happy New Year! As we begin a new year, many of us make New Year’s resolutions. Usually they are to improve ourselves in one way or another. Maybe we want to eat better, or lose weight, or exercise. Maybe it’s to renew a commitment to our work, or maybe to go back to school. Resolutions are sort of like promises. As we celebrate Epiphany and the next six weeks afterwards we don’t have to count on the promises we make to ourselves or others. We celebrate Epiphany because we can count on the promises that God has made to us. Those promises are absolutely certain and they are unbreakable. On Christmas we celebrated the incarnation of those promises. We celebrated the beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry. As we move through Epiphany and throughout the church year, we celebrate the promise that the Incarnation heralded for the world. We give thanks for that divine promise by living our lives as Christ taught us to live. Let us rejoice and give thanks! Blessings, Charles Pastor Charles Wilbanks Page 1 The Newberry Area Council of Ministries(NACOM) presents JANUARY JOURNEY 2019 “Marvelous Grace” Trinity Times Volume 8, Issue 1 January 2019

The Sights of Christmas at Trinity

In the near future, Trinity will begin implementing a Safe Sanctuary Policy. This policy was adopted and made a requirement for every Methodist Church at the Annual Conference. It will help in making our congregations safe places where children and youth, as well as others, may experience the abiding love of God and fellowship within the community of faith. A committee composed of Pastor Charles, Eli Martin, Lisha Senn, Jane Pollard, Harriet Stevenson, and Erin and Josh Pitts has been working on this policy for some time. The policy will go before the Council for approval this month. Once approved, more action will need to take place for those who are in contact with this community of individuals on a regular basis. We will have more info in next month’s newsletter or you may speak to Pastor Charles if you have any questions about Safe Sanctuaries.

Did you know?

The Children/Youth Christmas Program was directed by April Wilson with the help of Lauryn Wilson and Lynn Mohler and all the children and MYF youth who participated. Special thanks to Phyllis Sanders for playing our hymns and to Taylor Bouknight for performing a solo. Also thanks to all who brought the delicious food and the birthday cake for Jesus.

who did most of the work, and all others who chipped in to help.

Our regular church directory will be out this month but this year we will be doing a Pictorial Church Directory as well. We haven’t produced one in quite some time and church members have asked about doing one. Photos will be taken on:

Tuesday, April 2, 2 PM - 9 PM Wednesday, April 3, 10 AM - 5 PM

Harriet Stevenson will the coordinator for this project. She will be scheduling times for the photo shoots at a later date. There is no charge for the directory photograph and no obligation to buy any other photos. However, after you see what a great job they do, I’m sure you will want extras for family and friends. We are also going to have a session where you can have your photo taken with your pet! More information as we get closer to the date.
