Sharing God’s Love with All!Nativity of Our Lord - Christmas Eve
December 24, 2015, 10:00 pm
Welcome and Announcements
Call to Worship P: Blessed are you, O Lord our God. With Mary and Joseph, with angels and shepherds, with all the animals of the stable and with Wise Men who seek Him still, we gather around your Son, born for us. Fill us with joy and wonder as we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. May Jesus be born in our lives that we may share His love with all the world, for He is our light and our salvation. C: Amen.
Gathering Hymn…………………………. O Come, All Ye Faithful O come, all ye faithful, joyful and
triumphant! O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem; Come and behold him, born the king of angels: O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!
Greeting and Prayer of the Day P: On this holy night we celebrate the birth of our Savior: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. P: Let us pray. Almighty God, you made this holy night shine with the brightness of the true Light. Grant that here on earth we may walk in the light of Jesus’ presence and in the last day wake to the brightness of His glory; through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen.

Reading……………….……………………………………Luke 2:8-14
Hymn…………………………………Hark! The Herald Angels Sing Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn king; peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. Joyful, all you nations, rise; join the triumph of the skies; with angelic hosts proclaim, "Christ is born in Bethlehem!"

Christmas Message…………………….Pastor Yvonne Marshall
Hymn………………………..….It Came Upon the Midnight Clear It came upon the midnight clear, that
glorious song of old, from angels bending near the earth
to touch their harps of gold. "Peace on the earth,
good will to all,
from heav'n's all-gracious king.” The world in solemn
stillness lay to hear the angels sing.
Prayers (each petition will end with either “Lord, in your mercy” C: Hear our prayer; “Let us pray” C: Have mercy, O God; or “Hear us O God” C: Your mercy is great.)
OfferingOffering Hymn………………………………….What Child Is This What child is this, who, laid to rest, on
Mary's lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with
anthems sweet while shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the king, whom shepherds
guard and angels sing; haste, haste to bring him laud,
the babe, the son of Mary!
Why lies he in such mean estate where ox and ass are
feeding? Good Christian, fear; for sinners here the
silent Word is pleading. Nails, spear shall pierce him
through, the cross be borne for me, for you; hail, hail
the Word made flesh, the babe, the son of Mary!
So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh; come,
peasant, king, to own him. The King of kings
salvation brings; let loving hearts enthrone him.
Raise, raise the song on high, the virgin sings her
lullaby; joy, joy, for Christ is born, the babe, the
son of Mary!
Offering Prayer P: Good and loving God, we rejoice in the birth of Jesus, who came among the poor to bring the riches of your
grace. As you have blessed us with your gifts, let these gifts we return to you be blessings for others. With all earth and heaven, we shout for joy at the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. C: Amen.
The Great Thanksgiving P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give Him thanks and praise. P: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, that we should in all times and in all places give thanks and praise to you, Almighty and Merciful God, through our Savior Jesus Christ. In the wonder and mystery of the Word made flesh you have opened the eyes of faith to a new
and radiant vision of your glory, that beholding the God made visible, we may be drawn to love the God whom we cannot see.
Words of Institution P: Let us proclaim the mystery of faith. C: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. P: With this bread and cup we remember your Word dwelling among us full of grace and truth. We remember our new birth through baptism into his death and resurrection. We look with hope for his coming again in glory. C: Come, Lord Jesus. P: Holy God, we long for your Spirit. Come among us. Bless this meal. May your Word take flesh in us. Awaken your people. Fill us with your light. Bring peace on earth.
C: Come, Holy Spirit. P: All praise and glory are yours, Holy One of Isreal, One God, now and forever. C: Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer……………………………………………Page 134
Holy Communion We believe this is the Lord’s meal offered to the family of the faith. All are welcome to share in this meal we call Holy Communion. We believe Christ is present with us in this meal. Gluten free wafers and non-alcoholic wine may be requested from the server. If you are unable to come forward, let an usher know and communion will be brought to you. You are invited to come forward to receive a blessing if you choose not to receive communion.
Communion Hymn 1……...………………….Away in a ManagerAway in a manger, no crib for his bed, the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head; the stars in the bright sky looked down
where he lay, the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.The cattle are lowing; the baby awakes, but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes. I love you, Lord Jesus; look down from the sky and stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask you to stay close by me forever and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in your tender care and fit us for heaven, to live with you there.
Communion Hymn 2………I am so Glad each Christmas Eve
I am so glad each Christmas Eve, the night of Jesus' birth! Then like the sun the star shone forth, and angels sang on earth.
The little child in Bethlehem, he was a king indeed!
For he came down from heav'n above to help a world in need. He dwells again in heaven's realm, the Son of God today; and still he loves his little ones and hears them when they pray. I am so glad each Christmas Eve! His praises then I sing; he opens now for ev'ry child the palace of the king.
And so I love each Christmas Eve, and I love Jesus too;
and that he loves me ev'ry day I know so well is true.
Communion Prayer P: Heavenly Father, you have gathered your
scattered people around your gifts of grain and
wine, the body and blood of our Savior. As we, like the
shepherds,
return on our way, may we proclaim all we have heard
and seen, praising you in word and deed for the gift of
Jesus our Savior and Lord. C: Amen.
Candlelight Service Ushers will come forward to receive the light
from the Christ candle and will share it with the
person at the aisle. Tip your candle as you receive the
light, but hold the candle upright when your candle is lit
and you offer light to the next person. When the candles
are lit the lights will be turned off.
Hymn………………………………….………………..….Silent Night
Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright round
yon virgin mother and child. Holy Infant, so tender
and mild, sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly
peace.
Silent night, holy night! Shepherds quake at the
sight; glories stream from heaven afar, heav'nly hosts
sing, alleluia! Christ, the Savior, is born! Christ, the
Savior, is born!
Silent night, holy night! Son of God, love's pure light
radiant beams from your holy face, with the dawn of
redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord, at your birth, Jesus,
Lord, at your birth.
Benediction P: May you be filled with the wonder of Mary
and Joseph, the joy of the angels, and the faith of the
shepherds. Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit bless you
now and forever. C: Amen.
Hymn………………………………………………..Joy To The World Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let
earth receive her king; let ev'ry heart prepare him room and heav'n and nature sing, and heav'n and nature sing, and
heav'n, and heav'n and nature sing.
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns! Let all their songs employ, while fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains repeat the sounding joy, repeat the sounding joy,
repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
No more let sin and sorrow grow nor thorns infest the
ground; he comes to make his blessings flow far as the
curse is found, far as the curse is found, far as, far as
the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace and makes the
nations prove the glories of his righteousness and
wonders of his love, and wonders of his love, and
wonders, wonders of his love.
P: Go in peace. Share the Good News! C: Thanks be to God!
WISHING YOU A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
