Right to Liberty – the right to be free; to believe what you wish, to read what you want, to speak freely, etc.
Right to Life – the right to live without fear of being injured or killed by others.
Right to Property – the right to own things.
Vocabulary Unit 3 – Economic Understandings
Buy - to acquire the possession of, or the right to, by paying or promising to pay in money; purchase.
Consumer Goods - goods that are ready for consumption in satisfaction of human wants, as clothing or food,
Incentive – benefit given to get someone to take a certain action
Income - the monetary payment received for goods or services
Medicare – federal health care insurance program for the elderly
Opportunity Cost - the money or other benefits lost when pursuing a particular course of action instead of a mutually-exclusive alternative
Resources - a source of supply, support, or aid, especially one that can be readily drawn upon when needed.
Sell - to transfer (goods) to or render (services) for another in exchange for money
Social Security – government program that provides income support to people who are unemployed, disabled or elderly
Specialize - to pursue some special line of study, work, etc.; have a specialty
Standard of Living - a grade or level of subsistence and comfort in everyday life enjoyed by a community, class, or individual
Trade - the act or process of buying, selling, or exchanging commodities, at either wholesale or retail, within a country or between countries
Voluntary – of your own free will or choice

CELLS PROJECT!
Body In Science we have been studying Cells and Microorganisms. It is time for students to put their knowledge to work. Students will choose to make a 3-D model of a Plant or Animal cell. Rubrics have been provided. This Project is a home project. Due Friday September 9th. Students will also have to present in class. This project will be 2
test grades. Parents are encourage to assist where needed, while allowing the students a true experience.Please see the Rubric under Shared Documents.

Instead of dictating Dana's decisions, her parents provide her with options and advice that allow her to make her own choices. James' parents have a different parenting style. He is told explicitly what he may and may not do. In your opinion, which is the better parenting style? Be sure to
support your answer with examples and/or quotations from the text.
ELA- Students will have an I.N.(Interactive Notebook) which included Comprehension questions and Vocabulary words for each chapter. I will collect notebooks periodically to
grade. Please encourage your student to stay on top of these assignments.
Please discuss the chapters read with your student to be sure they understand the content.
