Fit and ForgetOnce installed, the 2100 series is ready to go. It needs no calibration and requires
minimum installation. The ‘heart-beat’ LED gives instant visual indication that the
unit is operational. In addition, the 2130 and 2160 have enhanced instrument health
monitoring diagnostics that can detect external damage to the forks, internal damage to
the sensor, excessive corrosion and over-temperature. With its local magnetic test point,
functional testing of the instrument and system is easy. You install it and forget it.
Extended high and low temperature performance
The 2120 is a popular choice for high and low level alarm and pump control duties for its
simplicity, ease of use and reliability.
The 2130 and 2160 extreme temperature versions enable standardization of Rosemount
vibrating fork switches across a wide range of process environments and is ideally suited
for harsh conditions where a high level of reliability must be maintained.
Wireless Capability
The 2160 Wireless vibrating fork liquid level switch combines both our wireless expertise
and vibrating short fork technology. It includes all the features of our wired level
switches but without the complication and cost of wiring.
The 2160 powers PlantWeb by communicating switch output state,
diagnostics and PlantWeb alerts and its WirelessHART capabilities create a
self-organising mesh network. Conguration and diagnostics are availableusing AMS® Suite or 375 Field Communicator, improving maintenance
efciency and reducing trips to the eld.
Superior performance
Functionality is virtually unaffected by ow, turbulence, bubbles, foam or vibration.
The ‘Fast Drip’ fork design allows the liquid to be quickly drawn away from the fork tip,
making the 2100 series quicker and more responsive in high density or viscous liquid
applications. With a user selectable time delay feature, the risk of false switching is
minimized in turbulent or splashing applications.

Applications
Overll protection
Spillage caused by overlling can be hazardous to people and
the environment, resulting in lost product and potentially high
clean up costs. The 2120 is available with DiBt/WHG overll
protection approval.
High and low level alarms
Maximum and minimum level detection in tanks containing
many different types of liquids are ideal applications for the
2100 series. It is best practice to t an independent high level
alarm switch as a backup to an installed level device in case of
primary device failure.
Limit detection / pump control
A level switch will detect when maximum liquid level is reached,
activating a pump. To protect the pump from running dry a
second switch is tted to detect minimum level and switch off
the pump. This is an ideal application for the 2100.
Run dry / pump protection
The loss of a pump due to dry running can be an expensive or
dangerous problem in a plant including loss of product and
damage to nearby equipment. A 2100 series level switch will
detect minimum level, avoiding pump damage.
Hygienic applications
With optional highly polished forks providing a surface nish
(Ra) better than 0.4 μm, the 2100 series meets the principle
design criteria of the most stringent hygienic requirements.
High temperature applications
The 2130 is designed for extremes of temperature. Its robust
design makes it suitable for continuous operation across a
temperature range of -94 to 500°F (-70 to 260°C).
Wireless applications
Wireless communications allow process plant managers to
save up to 90% of installation costs, enabling them to collect
more data at central locations than previously possible. The
Rosemount 2160 is the world's rst WirelessHART level switch,
and the 2120 and 2130 may be used with a Rosemount 702
transmitter for wireless applications.
The combination o Emerson's wireless expertise
and vibrating short ork technology has resulted
in the world's frst WirelessHART level switch,
the Rosemount 2160. In addition, the 2120
and 2130 may be used with a Rosemount 702
wireless transmitter or wireless applications.
