Prerequisites
Prerequisites
The search engine is installed and its server processes
are running.
Information about the installation can be obtained at:
http://service.sap.com/instguides
-> Installation & Upgrade Guides
-> SAP NetWeaver
The search engine can be accessed via a gateway.
The gateway can be accessed from the available R/3
system via an RFC destination.
=> See transaction SM59 for RFC-destinations

Business Example
With the search options available before TREX the user
had to know in which field he had to search for a certain
value. If he wasn’t sure about the field, the search was
rather difficult and time consuming.
Example:
The user is searching for a pump of a certain type (piece
of equipment). He isn’t sure whether the “type” and
“pump” information is stored in
- Equipment short text
- Object type
- Model Number
- Manufacturer Part Number - Construction type
With the new search the user can enter a value or string
and the system will search through all of those fields.
