Motivation letter for PhD studies Dear Mr. Tanaka, my name is Djordje Alfirevic, and I am interested to apply for doctoral studies at the architecture department in University of Tokyo. As far as I know you published some works in that field, at Architecture scientific magazine, and also you have been recognized as a leading architect-researcher in the field of habitation. A major field of study I am interested in is flexibility and origins of flexible spaces in traditional Japanese architecture. Another field I am interested in is contemporary Japanese architecture and its influence to a western architecture, especially architecture in Serbia, where I come from. Some of my latest researches, at the graduate studies, are closely connected with topic I have mentioned, so I truly hope you would be interested in taking a look at CV I have sent you in attachment. As you will see, so far I had an engagement in many fields of architecture, especially interior design. Although it is not my primary field of study, I see flexibility as essential part of it. I have read that you have similar conclusions in your works, so I hope you would be interested in being my mentor in that field, if I manage to get a scholarship for PhD studies at your department. Sincerely, Djordje Alfirevic.

Motivation letter for PhD studies

Dear Mr. Tanaka,

my name is Djordje Alfirevic, and I am interested to apply for doctoral studies at the architecture

department in University of Tokyo. As far as I know you published some works in that field, at

Architecture scientific magazine, and also you have been recognized as a leading architect-

researcher in the field of habitation. A major field of study I am interested in is flexibility and

origins of flexible spaces in traditional Japanese architecture. Another field I am interested in is

contemporary Japanese architecture and its influence to a western architecture, especially

architecture in Serbia, where I come from. Some of my latest researches, at the graduate

studies, are closely connected with topic I have mentioned, so I truly hope you would be

interested in taking a look at CV I have sent you in attachment.

As you will see, so far I had an engagement in many fields of architecture, especially interior

design. Although it is not my primary field of study, I see flexibility as essential part of it. I have

read that you have similar conclusions in your works, so I hope you would be interested in being

my mentor in that field, if I manage to get a scholarship for PhD studies at your department.

Sincerely,

Djordje Alfirevic.
