HOMELAND SECURITY GUARDING THE EEZ
Leveraging the technological and industrial base of its companies,
FINMECCANICA offers capabilities and solutions that meet the strategic
goal of global security:
- to prevent terrorists attacks
- to reduce the vulnerability to terrorism of both population and key assets- to minimise damage and recovery time after an attack
Using a variety of airborne, maritime, satellite and land assets, FINMECCANICA solutions detect, identify and track targets in a EEZ
scenario.
This allows operation control centres and remote assets to view and assess
targets, manage their resources, communicate with each other and, when
necessary, to intervene, to make swift and secure decisions.

DELIVERING INTEGRATED DEFENCE
FINMECCANICA offers its innovative integrated defence systems as the
solution to traditional and new defence missions that call for rapid armed
forces deployment and mobility in a joint and combined environment.
Command and Control capabilities are integrated with a wide range of air, land, naval and space platforms, platform systems and weapon systems
within a global network-centric infrastructure.

Data Distribution in ATC

Data Distribution in ATC
Air Traffic Control Systems have very stringent requirements in terms of data distribution
Flight Data Plan have to be distributed efficiently , timely , and reliably to several nodes
Historically ATC Systems have relied on proprietary middleware which where designed ad hoc to address these requirements
Often these systems did not provide means for configuring QoS, as it was built inside the system

Data Distribution in Coflight
The OMG DDS satisfies most of the key requirements of ATC Systems
Relevant features include persistency, reliability, high availability, …
Due to this natural match between DDS and most of ATC key requirements, Coflight relies on the OMG DDS for the distribution of Flight Data Plans

One Stop Shop…
The DDS key features make it a potential one stop shop solution for the data distribution need of ATC Systems
As of today it is easily applicable to: Radar Track Distribution Flight Data Plan Distribution Operational Interoperability etc.
However, some extension will be needed in order to fully support all ATC needs… But the OMG seems on the right track toward supporting these needs

Concluding Remarks
Coflight is a challenging ATC program which will provide several improvement in the state of the art of Air Traffic Control
The OMG Data Distribution Service, has been adopted by Coflight as a standard for data dissemination
As DDS nicely address many ATC requirements, we are eager to see it evolve toward a one-stop-shop solution
