SUMMER 2019
Dr. Natalie KuldellFounder and Executive Director of The BioBuilder EducationalFoundation, Natalie has taught for more than a dozen years in theDepartment of Biological Engineering at the Massachusetts Instituteof Technology. She studied Chemistry as an undergraduate atCornell, completed her doctoral and post-doctoral work at HarvardMedical School, and taught at Wellesley College before joining thefaculty at MIT in 2003.
A mixture of classroom, laboratory and designactivities provide a 3-dayprofessional developmentexperience that is bothaccessible and inspiring. Teachers leave with ready-to-teach lessons that bringengineering into biologyclassrooms, labs or scienceclubs. Workshops are co-led by auniversity-level scientist and aMaster BioBuilder high schoolteacher.
A typical workshop day includes an openingactivity, a few hours of interactive lecture, alunchtime activity or speaker, and several hours oflaboratory work where teachers learn how toperform as well as teach the BioBuilder materials.
In addition to summer PDprograms, BioBuilder offerscustomized workshopsthroughout the year, includingconference workshops, half-day programs, advancedtraining, and events for school administrators.
