MILB PCL PLAYER OF THE MONTH: Tacoma Rainiers catcher Mike Zunino was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for

April by the office of Minor League Baseball. Zunino finished April ranked among the PCL leaders in slugging percentage (1st, .767), OPS (1st, 1.205), total bases (T1st, 56), home runs (T1st, 7), batting average (2nd, .397), hits (T2nd, 29), extra base hits (T2nd, 13), RBI (T2nd, 22), runs (T3rd, 18), and on-base percentage (6th, .438). He hit a home run in 5 consecutive games from April 13-18, setting a career-best mark. The power streak earned him PCL Player of the Week honors for April 7-17. Zunino’s .397 batting average in April was the best monthly mark for a Tacoma qualified batter since Jesus Montero hit .493 for the club through 17 games in July 2015.

CF Ian Miller (2x3, R, BB, SB) recorded the team’s only multi-hit contest, while LF Leon Landry (1x3, RBI), DH D.J. Peterson (1x3, RBI) and C Marcus Littlewood (1x3, 2B, RBI) each drove in 1 of the Generals 3 runs. Starter Sam Gaviglio (6.1,6,4,4,2,5) recorded the loss after allowing 3 of the Jacksonville’s 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning. SS Drew Jackson (1x3, R, 2 BB, SB), 1B Kyle Petty (1x3, R, BB) and DH Justin Seager (1x3, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB) each collected 1 of the Blaze’s 3 hits. Seager hit his first home run of the season with a solo blast with 1 out in the 4th inning. Starter Tyler Pike (3.1,5,6,6,5,4,WP) recorded his 3rd loss of the season, allowing 6 runs on 5 hits over 3.1 innings. opponents to a .205 (27x132) average, while walking 7 and striking out 23. o PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Moore was named California League Pitcher of the Week, April 18-24…Moore earned his first win of the

season in his only start of the week on April 22 vs. Lake Elsinore, walking 1 batter and striking out 3 over 7.0 hitless innings in the Blaze’s 10-0 win. The 7.0 innings were a career-high for Moore.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: LHP Anthony Misiewicz was named California League Pitcher of the Week, April 25-May 1. Misiewicz recorded

the win in Bakersfield’s 4-3 win over Inland Empire on April 29. Misiewicz (8.0,2,0,0,1,4) earned his first California League win, allowing only 2 hits, 1 walk and striking out 4 over 8.0 shutout innings. He allowed tossed 6.0 no-hit innings before allowing a leadoff single to Caleb Adams in the 7th inning. He is the second Blaze pitcher to earn Pitcher of the Week honor, joining RH Andrew Moore (April 18-24).
