June 5, 2016

Dear Friends,

Where does time fly when you are having fun? Where did the month of May go? This weekend finds us with the beginning of the month of June. June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is all about pondering Christ’s love and meditating on Christ’s suffering. We are blessed to have a beautiful statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in our new church. With His outstretched arms and open heart, He invites us always to come to His open arms and open heart. Our Lord is gentle of heart and has freed us from our sins so we should never tire of going to Him with our needs and concerns.

O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow

for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to

your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you. Protect me in the midst of danger.

Comfort me in my afflictions. Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, your blessing

on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

On this weekend we want to take time to congratulate all of our GRADUATES. As we honor their accomplishments we pray that God will guide them as they move on to the next stage of their life – be it first grade, freshman year of high school, college or beyond. May Christ, the Master teacher always guide your actions and may you follow His way.

Plans are underway for our annual St. Joseph Community Festival. Take the time to get involved and volunteer some time. We could use your help and you will get to know fellow parishioners.

Here at Saint Joseph’s we will celebrate with our friend and now Father Matthew Biedrzycki. Fr. Matt will be here for a special Mass of Thanksgiving to celebrate his recent Ordination to the Priesthood. Father Biedrzycki will offer the 10:30 Mass on Sunday, June 19th and will be available for first priestly blessings after the Liturgy. As we look forward to this special occasion, let us ask the Lord to help many young men and women, especially from our parish, to be open to and respond to a call for a vocation as a priest, brother or consecrated religious.

Saint Joseph, Pray for Us!

Change For Life

Baby Bottle Campaign The Knights of Columbus will be collecting baby bottles after each Fathers’ Day weekend Mass June 18 and 19. The bottles, distributed on Mothers’ Day, should be filled with spare change which will be used to fund the parish March For Life bus trip in January 2017. Leftover amounts will go directly to other Pro-Life causes such as Generation Life, Culture Project, Chester County Women’s Services, and Birthright. Even if you don’t participate, please return the empty bottles. Doing so saves us $1 per bottle for next year. If you have any questions, email Rick Carcella at [email protected].

P a r i s h N e w sP a r i s h N e w sP a r i s h N e w sP a r i s h N e w s Prayer of the Jubilee Year of Mercy

December 8, 2015 to November 20, 2016

Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever

sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew

from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things;

made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to

each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!”

You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the

Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in

weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel

sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.

Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from

the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the

oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.

We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit

for ever and ever.

Amen.

Saint Paul begins today’s second reading by stating that he was “called” to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As baptized Catholics who have an opportunity to share in Christ’s life through the Eucharist regularly, we too are called to proclaim the teachings of Christ. We are stewards of Christ’s Gospel. But how are we responding to that call?

Do we listen for the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Do we evade, dodge or ignore the Lord’s call? Do we attempt to proclaim the Gospel in a spirit of compassion and love? Reflect on how you exercise stewardship over the Gospel.
