Resurrection Hymn - Tone 3

Let the heavens rejoice! Let the earth be glad! For the Lord has done a mighty act with His own arm! He has trampled down death by death, and become the first born from the dead! He has deliv-ered us from the depths of Hades, and has granted to the world great mercy!

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and

to the Holy Spirit,

Hymn of GreatMartyr George - Tone 4

Liberator of captives, defender of the poor, physician of the sick, and cham-pion of kings, O trophy-bearer, Great Martyr George, intercede with Christ God that our souls be saved.

now and ever and unto ages of ages.

Amen.

Hymn of the Theotokos - Tone 3

You who are the intercessor for the salvation of our race, we praise you, O Virgin Theotokos For in the flesh assumed from you, after that He had suffered the passion of the Cross, Your Son and our God delivered us from corruption, because He is the lover of Mankind.

Prokeimenon in Tone 3 (Ps 47)

Sing praises to our God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises!

Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!

Epistle: Philippians 2:5-11

" RETHREN, have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who,

though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in hu-man form he humbled himself and be-came obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly ex-alted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. +

Alleluia in Tone 3 (Ps 31)

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

In Thee, O Lord, have I hoped; let me never be put to shame!

Be Thou a God of protection for me, a house of refuge, in order to save me!

Gospel: Luke 10:38-42, 11:27-28

! T THAT TIME: Jesus entered a village; and a woman called Martha received him into her

house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was dis-tracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve you alone? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her." As he said this, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts that nursed you!" But he said, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"+

Prayers before DismissalPrayers before DismissalPrayers before DismissalPrayers before Dismissal As we search and seek out a new location

for our parish, we will be praying this

prayer weekly during Liturgy, and ask you

to pray it daily at home.

Lord Jesus Christ, my God, You have said, "Apart from me You can do nothing." In faith we embrace Your words, Lord, and we entreat Your good-ness. Help us to carry out the work we are about to begin, and to bring it to completion. To You we give glory, to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Almighty God, our Help and Refuge, who knows that we can do nothing right without Your guidance and help; direct us by Your wisdom and power, that we may accomplish this task and, whatever we do according to Your divine will, so that it may be beneficial to us, to others and to the glory of Your holy Name. Amen.

Our Lord and Savior, You became man and labored with Your hands until the time of Your ministry. Bless us as we begin this work. Help us to bring it to completion. Lord, enlighten our minds and strengthen our bodies, that we may accomplish our task according to Your will. Guide us to bring about works of goodness to Your service and glory. Amen.+

BUILDING FUND

As you know, we have outgrown our current facility and are actively seeking solutions for our fast growing parish.

As we do this, we ask that you keep us prominently in your prayers, keep your pledge this year, and tithe of your time, talent and treasure given you by God.

We also ask those of you who have asked about our Building Fund to give generously now. Whether one time gift, commitments over time, or gifts of stocks, annuities or property, St. George Church is growing and this is the time to seriously consider establishing the foundation which will build up the House of God in the Tri-City area.

If you have questions, see Fr. John or any parish council member.

Visitors We are happy that you joined us today, and we want you to know the following;

• Visitors and children are always welcome at all of our worship services.

• You won't be asked to do anything that would make you uncomfortable.

• We don't expect visitors to contribute anything financially to support our parish.

• Our children worship with us, and we love having them here.

If you are an Orthodox Christian, please introduce yourself to Fr. John before the ser-vice begins, so that, if possible, you may receive the Holy Mysteries of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If you are not an Orthodox Christian, we invite you to partake of the blessed bread distributed at the end of the service, to fill out a “Welcome” card (available in the Narthex), and to join us after the service for some hospitality!

SAINTS ALIVE

The life and deeds of the heroes of our faith

St. Diomedes the Unmercenary Healer

The saint who refused payment & performed healings, even after he died.

The Martyr Diomedes was born in Cilician Tarsus. He was a physician, and a Christian, and he treated not only ills of the body but also of the soul. He enlight-ened many pagans with belief in Christ, and baptized them. The Church vener-ates him as a healer and mentions him during the Mystery of Holy Unction.

St Diomedes traveled much, converting people to the true Faith. When he arrived in the city of Nicea, the emperor Diocletian (284-305) sent soldiers to arrest him. Along the way from Nicea to Nicomedia, he got down from the cart so as to pray, and he died.

As proof of carrying out their orders, the soldiers cut off his head, but became blinded. Diocletian gave orders to take the head back to the body. When the soldiers fulfilled the order, their sight was restored and they believed in Christ.

Glory to God for All Things!

An Unmercenary is a physician

(a doctor) who does not accept

payment for his medical work, lives a

harsh ascetic life & performs healings.
