The theme for this year’s event is “Technology and Automation”. The event begins at noon with a picnic lunch featuring grilled hamburgers, brats, potato salad, calico beans, dessert and more. During lunch we will hear from Jeremie Pavelski, co-chair of the Groundwater Task Force, a Central Wisconsin broadly diverse group of experts formed to advocate for responsible water use practices and informed, science-based public policy that will protect Central Sands groundwater and its associated streams, lakes and wetlands.

After lunch, we will head to an irrigated field in Plover where Paul Roberts, owner of Roberts Irrigation will lead the group. In the early days at Roberts Irrigation the normal irrigation pipeline was made of steel; they were heavy, and they were carried from place to place in the field. Simple “big gun” sprinklers were used to irrigate large areas and required a tremendous amount of hand labor. Technology and high tech were not words in anyone’s vocabulary.

Since the beginning of the company in 1957, the state of water application devices have changed

dramatically. Attendees at our Ag Tour event will see first-hand how farms truly are high-tech and how that has allowed farms to produce more food with less resources, in particular water. We will see a complete install, discuss the water-saving technologies that are employed and view a variety of major new advancements.

Then it’s off to Groshek Farms in Amherst Junc-tion, operated by the Groshek Family -- Henry (Father), Wayne, Casey and Delroy (Sons) and Keith (Grandson) to experience for yourself the care taken in robotic milking of cows and the barn setup. Managing a farm with milking robots requires a different approach compared to conventional milking. Attendees will tour the farm and experience the process of robotic milking and what it involves in terms of farm management.

The event includes tours, bus transportation, a picnic lunch, socializing and education.

Registration is now open. Register soon as space is limited. AGENDANoon: Picnic lunch and guest speaker Jeremie Pavelski at WPS Corporation1:30 pm: Arrive at irrigated field in Plover3:15 pm: Arrive at Groshek Farms5:00 pm: Return to WPS Corporation Cost is only $20 person.

GUZMAN CASE CORPORATION3525 Patch Street \\ Stevens Point, WI(715) 344-6777 \\ [email protected] \\http://www.guzmancasecorporation.comJoin Date \\ 07/01/1981

What they have to say \\ Guzman Case Corporation is a full service design build team. We separate ourselves from our competitors by being both architect and general contractor. This coupling of talents gives our customers one point of contact for the entire project process. On our design staff we have architect Jackson Case A.I.A., and architectural intern Jonathan Vaver. We strive to always convey the true design reality to our clients. We now use Building Information Modeling software to allow our clients a three dimensional view of the spaces throughout the design process. The BIM software also allows continuous cost analysis, and complete project integration.

We specialize in the design and the construction of commercial and industrial buildings. Guzman Case Corporation builds both pre-engineered metal structures and conventionally built structures. As our field staff is well trained in all aspects of construction, we self perform all work except the specialties trades. This self performance gives us the ability to control the quality of all work.

Guzman Case Corporation was incorporated in 2008. Although a relatively new corporation, the company has a long history and much experience in the building industry. James P. Guzman, President of Guzman Corporation, with over 40 years of construction experience assisted Guzman Case Corporation in the first year. Jackson Case, President of Guzman Case Corporation has been an independent architect since 1991 with over 25 years of construction experience. This experience is coupled with workmen that had been working for Guzman Corporation for up to 30 years. The combination of experience and history gives our clients the comfort of knowing their best interests are being served. Being a “local” firm allows Guzman Case Corporation to give personalized services and be very cost efficient. Since our firm does not have a large office staff or outside sales personnel, our overhead costs are lower. This gives us the opportunity to pass these lower costs on to our clients. To succeed in a small market area, Guzman Case Corporation strives to make every client a satisfied and repeat customer.

Guzman Case Corporation became a PCBC member in 2008. We describe the PCBC as “connecting us to the business community.”

One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, but when diagnosed early, the five year survival rate is 98%. Breast cancers diagnosed at an early stage often involve fewer procedures, have better outcomes and have lower costs. Screening mammograms may be able to detect breast cancers 4 years before they are palpable, thus allowing patients much earlier treatment.

Busy women don’t have to neglect their health. With walk-in time slots for screening mammograms, available funding and patient navigators, early detection can help save a life. Hear one woman’s personal journey and from the team that cares for her.

Purchasing Portage County gift certificates continues to be a successful way to “Buy Local”.

Portage County gift certificates make great gifts. Gift certificates can be purchased at area banks, credit unions, the Convention and Visitors Bureau or at our office. They can be used at any business with a Portage County address and are available in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $25, $50 & $100.

The PCBC would like to thank everyone who participates for helping make the program successful. We would also like to thank BMO Harris Bank for their financial support of the gift certificate program.
