TOLMAN’S AUTO-TECH GROUP || 5455 Auto Court Allendale, MI || 616.895.7500

Tolman’s Auto Tech TalkSpring Season Maintenance

Suspension systems should continue to operate eectively for many years and tens of thousands of miles/kilometers, holding your tires' foot print on the road. Eventually components do wear out, but how long that takes depends a lot on how or where you drive. After the winter, the roads are in rough shape. Have you been driving down a bumpy road with so many jumps and potholes that you wondered how you’re not ying o the road? Hitting those rough spots and potholes can cause problems with your steering & suspension, alignment and tires. Sometimes wheels get knocked out of alignment and shock suspension components can be damaged by accidents or by a hard impact, like hitting a pothole, a curb or a rock in the road.

Because the life span of shocks can vary so widely, your vehicle manufacturer recommends periodic inspections. During a car inspection at Tolman's Auto-Tech, a service technician will check for worn, broken or missing suspension parts, check your tires and check your vehicles alignment. If the inspection reveals any problems, take care of this important safety and handling work. When you replace your shocks, it's usually a good idea to replace all four at the same time. That'll give you even handling at all four corners of the vehicle

Get up to a $100 Visa Prepaid Card with purchase of NAPA qualifying Shocks and/or NAPA Struts.

Another maintenance item to perform after the Fall and Winter is to have your Cabin Air Filter and Engine Air Filter changed or checked during your oil change here at Tolman’s Auto. The cabin air lter cleans out dust, pollen, spores and other pollutants, and the engine air lter cleans the air before it’s burned in your engine. During the month of April receive an instant $15.00 o your invoice.

Get an early jump on Brake Season with the Get $50 Prepaid Visa Card from NAPA Brakes with a minimum $250 qualifying brake parts in a single purchase between April 1-June 30, 2018.

Win big with our Spring Tire promotion! Earn a $70 Visa Prepaid Card with a purchase of four eligible Bridgestone Tires. Pay with your CFNA Bridgestone/Firestone card and increase that rebate to $100.

Recently your Community Policing unit has responded to several reports of various types of scams and frauds intended to vicmize residents. These cases are certainly not specific to the Allendale area, and seem to be an increasing problem throughout the country. Cases have ranged from internet and phonescams, unemployment fraud, police impersonaon, and credit card fraud likely aributed to some of the recently publicized security breaches at large retailers.

In most of these reported cases, the intended vicms have been able to recognize the aempted scam and prevent any loss of money, or work with their credit card companies to reverse any fraudulent charges. Nevertheless, these types of crimes are very me consuming

and stressful to deal with even if actual money is not lost. These cases are also very difficult to invesgate for local law enforcement since most suspects are located well out of our jurisdicon, usually out of the state or even overseas.

To avoid falling vicm to these scams please do not provide any personal informaon, including social security and credit card numbers, to strangers over the phone. Never send money to somebody you do not know, and never deposit a check from somebody you do not know and then wire money back to them. Oen a bank will cash a fraudulent check only to later find out it is fake, leaving the person who cashed it responsible for the value of the check. Once money is sent out via Western Union, Green Dot, or any other money transfer company, there is no way to retrieve that money.

Consumers can also check their credit bureau acvity on a regular basis to make sure somebody has not received credit in their name without permission.

Remember that if you receive a phone call or internet offer that doesn’t feel right, or sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

More informaon on protecng yourself from scams and fraud can be found at many websites includingconsumer.c.gov and i.gov.
