Welcome to the eighth annual Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival. Warm greetings to our returning riders and a special hello to all new attendees.
More than just a horse show, this is an event where every one of you is a VIP.
MAEF is known industry wide for offering the best prizes on the East Coast. Many thanks for the continued support of all our sponsors. We could not do it without you!
Our extravagant prizes keep on coming! Past awards have included saddles, bridles, halters, coolers, coolerettes, stirrups, riding coats, shirts, breeches, boots, helmets, tack trunks, grooming boxes, half chaps, saddle pads, silver and over the top ribbons to name just a few.

10. Horses allowed on the grounds, Thursday, November 14th after 7:00am and must leave Sunday, November 17th within 2 hours after the end of the last class. Stabling before or after these times must be arranged with horse show management and will be charged $50 per stall per day.
11. Entries close and must be postmarked or received by Horseshowing.com by midnight October 31, 2019. No exceptions. A $75 post entry fee will be added to all entries received after that date. Post entry fee will be added to entries reserving stalls and not entering classes. Post entry fee is non - refundable.
12. In the case of an entry being entered and not exhibited, the entry fee will be refunded less a $ 50.00 office fee if the horse is ill or becomes injured and is scratched with the show secretary accompanied by a vet certificate by October 31, 2019. Stall fees are non refundable after closing date.
13. Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $75.00 or 10% of the check amount, whichever is greater. Upon notification of a returned check, accounts will be given three (3) days to make full payment, including the penalty which must be paid in certified funds, cashier’s check or money order. Overnight mail service is advised in order to avoid notification of the sanctioning organization.
14. Refunds will not be given for classes scratched the day the class is held.

15. Post entries received after the order of go is drawn will go first.
16. Entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Entries will be limited. Management reserves the right to deem when classes are full.
17. Every horse on the show grounds must be officially entered on an entry form.
18. Classes will be pinned to 8th place. Championship classes to 10th place. Flat championship to 6th place.
19. Every entry will receive 2 Sunday Brunch bracelets. Additional bracelets may be purchased for $10 each.
CROSS ENTERING INFORMATION
1. Exhibitors must compete in Friday and/or Saturday classes to be eligible for Sunday Championship class.
2. Management reserves the right to determine a floating age split.
3. Novice and Intermediate riders may not cross enter into 3’3” or 3’6” classes.
4. Entries in 3’ divisions may cross enter in 3’3” and 3’6” classes.
5. Individual flat classes may be entered if eligible.
6. Entries in Beginner Rider may not cross enter into any other classes. 10 entries required to hold division.
7. Ribbons won Friday and Saturday also qualify for respective Championship class.
REFUNDS
1. All refunds are subject to a $50.00 office fee before the closing date of 10/31/19.
2. Full refunds given before the closing date less a $50.00 office fee. After the closing date, stall fees, Team class entries and Scholarship fees are non-refundable. Refunds under $20 will be credited to the Scholarship fund.
3. Scratches must be made in writing at the horse show office and are subject to a $50.00 Scratch Fee.
4. Refunds will be mailed within 30 days after the horse show. No refunds will be mailed prior to the competition.
5. Scratches after the Saturday cupcake order of go draw will not be refunded.
MARYLAND EQUINE HEALTH REQUIREMENTSMaryland Equine 1. All horses and other equidae, 9 months of age and older, shall be accompanied by a negative test for equine infectious anemia (EIA) made within the 12 months before the date of the event. A copy of this test shall accompany every animal. 2. A Maryland CVI is not required for Maryland equine.
Out-of-State Equine 1. All horses and other equidae, 9 months of age and older, shall be accompanied by a negative test for equine infectious anemia (EIA) made within the 12 months before the date of the event. A copy of this test shall accompany every animal. 2. All horses and other equidae shall be accompanied by a CVI issued within 30 days
prior to entry. 3. The following contiguous states and New Jersey are exempted from the CVI requirement: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
GENERAL INFORMATION1. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by show management
and its’ decision shall be final. Management reserves the right to refuse, decline, accept conditionally, or to cancel or limit entries, disqualify entries or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, return any entry fees before or during the show without being held liable for compensation and cancel, combine, or reschedule classes, change rings, location, courses, change judges or officials, and restrict the area of the courtesy circle with a mandatory line. reserves the right to further cancel, combine, modify, or divide classes when deemed necessary to facilitate the smooth running of the show. No refunds will be given. Show management reserves to itself the power to prohibit any person from attending or showing a horse in the ring and to remove any individual or horse from the show without being liable for compensation.
2. Exhibitors are notified that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the judges or officials, on the part of the owner, manager, rider, trainer, parent, or groom shall disqualify the horse, and the owner shall forfeit the entry fee and other fees.
3. Every horse and rider entered in the competition will comply with the rules of the horse show management, but management and The Show Place Arena at the Prince Georges Equestrian Center will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor, owner, trainer, parent, and spectator shall hold this horse show and the officials and employees of the show blameless for any loss or accident of his/her horse, employees, equipment, which may occur from sickness, fire, or otherwise. The Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival and The Show Place Arena at the Prince Georges Equestrian Center, its employees and representatives, committee members, officials, and/or owners will not be held responsible for any accident or injury occurring to any rider, groom, spectator, trainer, parent, animal or equipment at the competition. Same will not be held liable for the disappearance of any equipment, vehicle or animal at any time. THIS SHALL BE A CONDITION OF ENTRY TO THE SHOW GROUNDS.
4. In the event of competition cancellation due to severe weather or other emergency, the Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival will not refund entry fees or any other related fees.
5. Parent(s) or guardian(s) of a minor child shall hold the horse show management and The Show Place Arena at the Prince Georges Equestrian Center harmless for any injury/accident/death to such minor.
6. DOGS / GLASS CONTAINERS / ALCOHOL PROHIBITED IN THE SHOW PLACE ARENA. Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwise contained. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs’ behaviors. Any owner of a loose dog will be fined $50 which will be added to their entry fee and the funds donated to Danny and Ron’s Rescue, Camden, SC.
7. All horses must be properly identified and must provide a Registration Number from USEF.
8. USEF and USHJA Show Pass fees of $30 each organization ($60 total) will be charged for any non - member participating as an exhibitor, trainer, or owner.
9. As a condition of entry to competition all present grant permission to the Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival to use their image for publicity purposes.
STABLING1. Stalls will be available on a first come, first served basis. All stabling is permanent with doors.
Stalls $200.00 Initial bedding is not provided.
3. Non-showing horses will be charged a fee of $150.00 A Ship in fee of $100 for horses shown without stabling. Entries Beginner Rider and flat classes exclusively are exempt from the Ship In fee.
5. No sharing of stalls is allowed. If two people share a horse, separate entries must be made and the applicable fees paid by each entry. Stalls are allocated by rider number and may not be sublet.
6. A stall bedding service is available at $10 per stall.
CHAMPIONSHIPS AND CLASS ROUTINE1. Over fences and flat classes counting toward a Championship will count equally when calculating points.
2. There will be a posted order of go in all over fences classes.

3. All classes and awards will be presented in the ring and exhibitors must ride for ribbons and awards. Awards will not be mailed.

SCHOOLING1. Outside ring with schooling jumps (vertical, oxer, crossrail) will be available for schooling
beginning at noon on Thursday, November 14th until the completion of the competition.
2. The outside ring will be illuminated on competition nights.
3. Lunging is allowed on the race track only. No lunging in warm-up or schooling areas.
4. Any riders in the main show ring while the ring is officially closed will be automatically eliminated.

In the spirit of serving the equestrian community, the Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival (MAEF) strives to provide educational and scholarship opportunities to junior and amateur athletes.
The Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival, Nov 15 - 17 will be held at the Show Place Arena at Prince George’s Equestrian Center at 14900 Pennsylvania Ave in Upper Marlboro, MD.

The candidate’s written Horsemanship Exam score is combined with their two top ride scores from Friday and Saturday competition. (Team class, Schooling, and Warm up classes excluded). The highest score will determine the winner. In the event of a tie the ride scores will take precedence. Test information at end.
The award presentation takes place after the Young Rider Championship on Sunday.

The top six scoring candidates from the written Horsemanship Exam will proceed to a practicum of general horsemanship knowledge conducted by a veterinarian and an industry expert. The practicum will take place Saturday November 16 from noon until 3pm. In the event of a tie the practicum score will take precedence. Test information is at end.
