    COVERAGE TERMINOLOGY

    RECEIVER DISTRIBUTION -A term used to describe the location of receivers on eitherside of the ball from weak to strong.Example: 1 weak or 1strong, 2 weak or 2 strong

    ALLEY - A cover 3 adjustment by the SS used to defendvertical routes by the #1 and #2 receivers resulting

    in a 4 deep coverage.

    JUMP - A term used to describe a man coverage concepton #s 1, 2, and 3 weak.

    BUD - A term used to describe the SS in a head upalignment weak used with coverages 2 and 4CLD.

    HEADS - A term used to describe Willy aligned on #1 weak orthe SS aligned on #1 strong in a head up alignment.

    DOUBLE HEADS - Willy and SS in heads alignment on #1 weak and#1 strong.

    Z - A term used to describe man coverage on Z.

    X - A term used to describe man coverage on X.

    Y - A term used to describe man coverage on Y.

    H - A term used to describe man coverage on H.

    O ATTACHMENT - 0 will be used to describe any 3 man rush coveragewith rush end having coverage responsibility.

    DROP - A term used to denote defensive linemen dropping into

    coverage w/ pressure.

    SIN - A term used to describe an underneath coverage overshifted strong.

    WIN - A term used to describe an underneath coverage overshifted weak.

    FSL - A term used to describe a coverage (SS) rolled into the boundary to defend a 2back formation with strength into the sideline.

    BRACKET - A term used to describe a combination man coverage witha secondary 4 a LBer on receiver.

    HAND - Five man rush, with zone coverage behind the rush.

    BUZZ -Exchange of flat and curl responsibilities between safety + outside LBer in cover3 or 6.

    BANJO - A term used to describe a combination man coverage on#2 + #3 receiver by two defenders.

    FLOAT - Cover 4 concept could go to Cover 2 on flat release of #before 6yds.

    SPY - A term used to denote pick up on outside release by cage players.

    VICE - A term used to describe a combination man coverage on #1 strong and #1 weakby safety + corner.

    UP - A term used to describe LBers showing pressure. FX Will up.

    MUG - A term used to describe a linebacker showing pressure. We will say Mike Mug,Sam Mug, etc. . .

    SHOW - A term used to describe a Safety showing pressure.

    FIST - A safety shows weak in the box in a Lber position.

    BOX - A term used to denote a safety showing strong in the box.

    FIN - A term used to denote a safety lining up in the box in the middle.

    BEAR - A term used to denote a defender on the L.O.S. over Y withSAM, WILL, or a DE aligned outside.

    BAIL - Corner technique aligned in press and then running out for 1/3 coverage .

    PRESS - Corner aligned tight on WR in man coverage.

    HOLE - Man - free term used with 4 man rush, indicating that thereis a free Lber. Low Hole player.

    ROBBER - Man - free term indicating SS in hole coverage with FS incenterfield.

    THIEF - Man - free coverage term indicating FS in hole coveragewith SS behind in centerfield.

    STRONG - Used in cover 0 to indicate FS is strong ( Assume weak).

    WEAK - Used in cover 9 to indicate that FS is weak (Assumestrong).

    FOX - FS coming down to be flat defender.

    PROGRESSIONS - We will want to know if an opponents defensiveunderneath coverage are reading progressions or spotdropping.

    The defenders will number receivers + play a man concept within a zone.
