•10: Ten informative slides per presentation
•20: Twenty minute presentation
•30: Minimum thirty-point font size
Simple Structure
6
Why 10?
• Slides should outline material
• Focus on who you are, what you do, and why it matters
• Branding:– Your image is your brand
– Incorporate what makes you different on each slide, because people will pay attention and are more likely to respond
7
• Studies show that the average attention span for an adult watching a presentation is twenty minutes
• Taking breaks: – You can extend the audience’s attention
span by taking short breaks
– Examples of effective “breaks”: a blank slide, a short story, or a demonstration
Why 20?
8
• Ensures that audience can read your slides
• Forces you to know your material
• Word Count:– 30 point font keeps word
count low– 40 words per slide– When possible, substitute
images for words
Why 30?
