1. INAGURATION OF NSS IN GKCE
The NSS Wing in GKCE was inaugurated on 31-08-2015 in the presence of the Management,
Principal, Heads of Department, faculty members and the students of GKCE.
The sole motto of the National service Scheme is ‘NOT ME, BUT YOU’. This reflects the essence
of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the others point of view
and also to show the considerations for fellow beings.
NSS inspires and motivates the students to indulge in nation building activities through various
events and projects which are aimed towards the benefit of the nation. It focuses that the welfare of an
individual is ultimately the welfare of society.
The main objective of launching and promoting NSS program in our college is to develop the social,
cultural, traditional, and civil responsibility among the students and to understand the community. It is the
spirit of the selfless service. NSS encourages the meaning of life through service in the realm of today’s
changing world. It develops a passion in every individual to contribute themselves to the country.
The organization was started with over a 100 actively participating students. Our motto to develop NSS
in our college is to educate the people in and around the town, to make the people aware of the things
happening around the world and make the people meet the technical advancements as the world is getting
globalised .
It is to encourage and educate the people by planning and organizing various projects which would
be much helpful to the society and to build the nation to compete with the world and to contribute oneself.
2. BLOOD CAMP
NSS organized a Blood Camp in Gokula Krishna College Of Engineering on 15-10-2015 including student
volunteers faculty concerned in association with Indian Red Cross society.
Donating blood saves many lives. Every student must be responsible to be a donor. The NSS
organization was successful in conducting this event systematically. 75 units of blood was collected in this
camp. Many patients were benefited by this blood as this blood was donated during dengue fever epidemic.
Many hospitals around Sullurupeta acknowledged our services and requested us to conduct this
blood camp in regular intervals. Students of our college participated in this event enthusiastically.
NSS organization provided all the facilities for the comfort of the donors. Staff of Indian Red Cross
society attended this event, two doctors and four nurses collected the blood from donors in a
hospitalized way. Our NSS organization volunteered this event by providing the fruits, juices and
biscuits to the donors. Participants of our NSS volunteers and students showed their humanity.

3. HEALTH SERVICE IN TALLAMPADU VILLAG
Medical aid is one such most important aspect that must reach to the people in this hot summer.
With respect to such aspect the NSS of GKCE has organized a health service in the Thallampadu village,
near Sullurpet.
The heat waves are leading to the health crises in several states in our country. The soaring temperature
was a concern to the people in and around Sullurupeta. The most affected to high temperature conditions are
the children and the old people which increases the sun stroke related deaths. In order to prevent the demise
of society due to sun stroke and heat related ailments, the NSS volunteers drove to the village to educate the
people in the villages and bring an awareness to protect themselves from the sun stroke and dehydration
problems.
The NSS volunteers approached the village members in each house and explained the elderly people to
take care of their health and to protect themselves from the heat waves. The exposure to the villagers
provided the NSS volunteers to learn about hardships of the people struggling to live and lead their life with
very minimum facilities. The visit to the village was totally disciplined in which we the volunteers divided
into groups and reached every door step of the village, distributed ORS packets to the children and elderly
people in the village. The presidents of the village along with the RM doctor accompanied us to educate
the residents of the village. The smile on the children’s face gave us a warm satisfaction and happiness for
their reception and cooperates
4. YOUTH FESTIVAL
NSS organized the Divisional Level Youth Festival in GKCE on 03-11-2015. The main intention of
youth festival is to encourage and identify the hidden talents in the students. Many cultural programs such as
different dance forms, fancy dress, singing, elocution, painting, quiz and essay writing competitions were
conducted.
The NSS team supported the event with a great startup. The words of the speakers inspired the students
which were about Swami Vivekananda. Every page of the legend creates a history in every student’s life.
The professionals of various fields were the judges at this fest.
This provided the platform to the students to expose their talents even at the Nationals. It is our
humble pleasure to organize such an event. NSS volunteers supported the event by taking care of all the
necessities and monitoring huge crowd. The NSS team took the step in volunteering and guiding the
students for their accommodation and all the requirements. The whole event resembled a festival with
strength of dynamism in the youth.
5. SCIENCE EXPO
Science expo was held on September 15th which is celebrated as Engineers day in memory of
Sir. Mokshagundam Visweswaraya. This event was organized by our NSS team. On this day students of
Gokula Krishna College of Engineering and Pharmacy and students from in and around Sullurupeta colleges
and schools participated in this event.
On behalf of Engineers day, many resource persons in Engineering field were invited. Management and
chief guests started this event by unveiling the statue of great legend Sir. Mokshagundam Visweswaraya.
Personalities who were invited for this event gave valuable suggestions which are useful for the budding
Engineers and shared their experiences as Engineers. They suggested the students about education which
plays a major role for future development. NSS organized this science expo in a peaceful manner. When the
students of various schools visited this science expo our team managed the crowd in an orderly manner.
The management and in charge of other schools appreciated the services of NSS team. Our NSS team
provided the necessary facilities and arrangements like tables which are required for the students of other
schools for projecting their experiments in a convenient way.
Management and Sub Inspector of Sullurpet Sri. Gangadhar Rao distributed the prizes and
certificates for the winners and suggested valuable suggestions for the budding Engineers and
encouraged our NSS team. Our team got appreciation for the success of this event.
6. FLAMINGO FESTIVAL
Andhra Pradesh Government Organized two day Flamingo Festival at Sullurpet, Nellore on 9th &
10th January, 2016 at the Government College ground in Sullurpet town in the presence of a large number of
tourists, students and locals. By the support and encouragement of higher authorities our NSS volunteers
took a part in this festival for crowd management.
To have the general awareness about the society we projected a 3-D video. There was a huge crowd.
We got the appreciation from the people who visited our stall. The volunteers controlled the crowd in a
systematic way made the people to come in a queue without getting distracted. Our NSS crew controlled
the crowd at the stalls. Our NSS team was also responsible for promoting hygiene in the festival ground.
People who visited Flamingo festival felt comfortable. We provided drinking water facilities and seating
chairs. We organised an awareness programme particularly for the students, how to mould themselves to
lead a fortunate life, how to keep surroundings clean and about discipline, which is most essential factor in
one’s life and also we made people aware about, to reduce the usage of polythene covers and suggested
them to use paper bags.
7. SWACHH BHARAT
On 06-01-2016 the Swacch Bharat event has been conducted in the Gokula Krishna College of Engineering
by the NSS team. The event took place for the whole day. Our NSS team constitutes nearly 100 members.
They have been divided into groups and sub-groups to continue the mission. The co-ordinators as well as
the team members put their efforts to make the surrounding clean. The basic theme of Swachh Bharat is to
know the responsibilities of each and every Indian citizen. We took this as our responsibility to keep the
surroundings clean and green. Our team worked hard in the process of cleaning in and around the college
campus. The NSS team provided dustbins for maintaining cleanliness. An awareness program on Clean
India Mission was organized for the NSS volunteers and students. After the completion of awareness
program, we continued the task like providing proper sanitation by using bleaching powder in watery areas.
8. SHRAMDHAN PROGRAM
The event Shramdhan has been conducted by the NSS team in the village we adopted i.e Thallampadu in
Nellore Dt. on 04-02-2016 NSS volunteers were deputed for the camp. The theme of the camp was based on
the Shramadhan which includes the initiation to develop the village.
We taught about the need to maintain basic hygiene and sanitation, the people who were living in village
should understand the adverse health effects of the filth lying around and hence, we explained it to them the
impact and the need to maintain a healthy Environment.

After creating the awareness among the people, we started cleaning the ground. To ensure the hygiene in
this village we solved the problems of sanitation and proper waste management. The president
accompanied with us for the proper management regarding various problems like water supply, roads, street
lights and primary health centers. We gifted few saplings to the villagers in the sense of gratitude. We
ended the program with the ground work by cleaning streets, water tanks and surroundings. The president
and the residents of village were satisfied with our hard work. This mission is the ultimate goal to make
our country a clean and developed country forever having clean and happy citizens.
9. FUNDS DONATION
Funds donation took place on 17-10-2015 by NSS organization with the support and encouragement of
the Gokula Krishna College Management, Principal, Faculty and Students.
The main intention of this event is to serve the orphans in Crisis Rescue International Children Home.
The NSS Organization visited the orphanage to fulfill the basic needs for the little orphans. The situation
was worst when we visited the orphanage. There was no proper sanitation and they were about 55 children
in the home. Our NSS team felt responsible in helping them and provided the necessary facilities which are
required for children.
Students of our college wholeheartedly donated 5/- per head and faculty donated 100/- each. An amount
of Rs.15,550/- was collected. The following gift items were distributed.

6. Spoons
7. Foot Mats
8. Carry Bags
9. Water Bottles
10. Alarm Clocks
The children felt thankful to our team. Their faces were lit up with happiness. We were happy with
their response. They wished to be a part of NSS in their future.
We are very satisfied in conducting this service programme. Every student who contributed in this
event felt the worth. We encouraged the students as volunteers to conduct such service programmes which
would change the life of many children.
10.ANTI RAGGING PROGRAMME
NSS organised an awareness programme about anti ragging on date in Gokula Krishna college of
Engineering.
Ragging means abusing a person mentally, physically and psychologically. Ragging became more
common and prevalent in educational institutions. Senior students feel superior and they exploit their
juniors. Ragging became a serious problem in our society as students who are mentally weak and they are
unable to tolerate
NSS conducted awareness programme on anti ragging to make students aware of the consequences
of ragging and what will be the impact on their future , if the students rags other students. NSS organization
invited circle inspector and sub inspector to make students aware about the sections. They gave valuable
suggestions to all the students and they explained about various punishments and penalty if students were
involved in ragging. NSS organization particularly conducted this event to prevent the ragging in our
college campus. NSS involved and strived to make our campus ragging free, to make students stress free
and encourage them to concentrate on their studies seriously. Management supported NSS for conducting
this programme to prevent ragging in our campus. NSS conducted this programme to reflect on the dire
realities taking place in the universities and other colleges i.e, committing suicide and ending the fruitful
lives. As today’s children are tomorrow citizens, youth power is required for our nation development so we
should prevent this social evil (ragging) and abolish to protect and secure the lives of our students.
11.AWARENESS PROGRAMME FOR 10TH
STANDARD
NSS organized an awareness programme for 10th standard students to score better in the final exams
on 10-10-2016 in Gokula Krishna College of Engineering. NSS conducted this programme for students as
grades have become a very important factor for applying a college/job. Candidates with better grades are
given priority in jobs, even though some students posses skills they are unable to score sufficient grades,
which would be a major drawback for a candidate to sustain the present living. The chief guests advised
the students about shaping and molding the future of the budding creators. The students received an
opportunity to know about their future, how to shape it, how to set up a goal and how to reach the goal in a
predetermined path. This programme provided an opportunity for the students to know about the
scholarships that are provided by the Government on merit basis and also the schemes that the government
is providing in the field of education. The programme also provided the source for the children to enrich
their presentational skills and also tips which helps to score good ranks. The students from in and around the
town attended the awareness programme. The volunteers took care of the hospitality of all the people who
attended the programme. The speakers encouraged the children and wished them best wishes for their board
exams which energized a potential among the students with a spark of enthusiasm.
