work
Today, Clarice Cliff is known as one of the most influential ceramics artists of the 20th Century and her work is collected, valued and admired all over the world. Also, she started work at the age of 13 at ‘The Potteries’. In 1916, she moved into another factory, called AJ Wilkinson’s Pottery. She stayed there till 1929, when she was given her own studio and she held the famous ‘Bizarre’.
Clarice Cliff was born January 20th, 1899. This was in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.
Clarice Cliff died on October 23rd, 1972. She died in Chetwynd House but the cause of death was unknown, apparently she just died suddenly!
Clarice Cliff was a very unique artist, as she took a normal landscape, and changed it to make it abstract. She changes the shapes and makes them bright colours to stand out, and also she adds different features to the landscape to make it strange. This makes her completely unique compared to other artists as they just draw or paint or sketch one thing whereas she takes something and makes it original.
I think Clarice Cliff’s work is very fascinating! It’s really bright and colourful which makes it so eye-catching. It is good, as she takes normal landscapes and makes them abstract. Her work is fascinating and original. My overall opinion is that Clarice Cliff’s work is wonderful!
