Foodgrains production anticipated to be increased to 7.00 Lakh MT in ’05-’06 from 5.13 Lakh MT in 1999-00 ( before Perspective Plan). Certified seed production increased to 3700 MT in 2005-06 from 280 MT in 1999- 00 ( before Perspective Plan). Hybrid Paddy seed (KRH –II, DRRH-I) production increased to 10 MT in 2005- 06.

2.1 SEED PLAN:• Thrust given for Certified

Seed Production through Seed Village concept.

SRR increased from 2.8% in ‘99-’00 to 26% in 2005-06. Target for 2006-07 is 33%.

3. INITIATIVE FOR INCREASING INVESTMENT IN AGRICULTURE

• Dovetailing the resources from NREGP/SGSY/SGRY/PDF

• Increase the Plan allocation in Agriculture by 7.5% in 2006-07 over 2005-06.

• Irrigation potential increased to 29% from 13% in 1999-00.

• FLOW OF CREDIT TO AGRICULTURE:

• Gram Panchayet wise list of eligible farmers given to banks for issuing KCC.

• Only 25880 nos. of KCC distributed during last three years.

• Banks are to be more proactive for issuing KCC.

• Jhumia farmers has to be given KCC for which norms to be relaxed.

• Horticulture : Vegetables, Cashew nut, Black Pepper, Amla

6. MARKETING REFORMS

• Steps taken for amendment of Tripura Agricultural Produce Market Act, 1980 incorporating the provisions as per guidelines given in the Model Act.

• Draft amendment Bill to be placed before the Cabinet for consideration.

7. RISK MANAGEMENT

• Insurance coverage on notified crops viz. Paddy & Potato being given to protect farmers from inclement of weather .

• Support price of Potato is declared by the State Govt. to protect farmers from distress sale.
