Safety Review Committee (SRC)
• Reports to the Lab Director.• Makes recommendations on ES&H policy and
guidelines.• Conducts reviews of special safety problems
and provides recommendations for solutions. • Conducts the institutional level self-assessment
known as Management Environment, Safety & Health (MESH) reviews.
• Appoints expert sub-committees to address specific health and safety matters.
• Seeks consultation from the Regulatory Safety Committee Chairs.

MESH Reviews
• Conducted for divisions on a triennial basis• Ensures management systems consistent with
Integrated Safety Management (ISM) are in place in all Laboratory Divisions and that these systems are leading to effective implementation of the Laboratory's ES&H program.
• Performed by SRC members.

EH&S Liaisons
• Reports to the EH&S Director
• Serves as prime EH&S technical point of contact to assigned divisions
• Conducts the authorization based portion of institutional self-assessment known as Integrated Functional Appraisal (IFA) reviews

Integrated Functional Appraisal
• Conducted for divisions on a triennial basis.• Validates formal authorization requirements.
– Activity Hazard Documents– Biological Use Authorizations– Radiological Work Authorizations
• Performed by Division Liaisons and supported with EH&S subject matter experts.

Safety Coordinators
• Reports to each Division Director.
• Serves as point of contact within their division for all matters concerning the implementation and interpretation of the Lab’s ES&H policies
• Conducts the working level portion of institutional self-assessment known as Division Self Assessment (DSA) reviews.

Self Assessment
• Conducted annually
• Validates that ISM principles are implemented at the working level
• Performed by the Division Safety Coordinator and supported with EH&S subject matter experts
