About The Company Founded in 1897 by Herbert H. Dow in
Midland, Michigan Produced first product for fruits and
flowers, giving rise to the agricultural chemicals division in 1906
Expanded internationally with the organization of Dow Chemical Canada LTD. in 1942
Established Asahi-Dow, Ltd., Dow’s first overseas subsidiary in 1952
Opened offices in Europe and Mexico in 1957
Sales outside the U.S. accounted for 25% in 1966
Completed merger with Union Carbide Corp. Feb 2001
