Acts 9:26-28

“When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all

afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple. [27] But Barnabas took hold of him

and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.

[28] And he was with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of

the Lord.”

What it will NOT provide

•Salvation–We must understand that salvation does not come through the local congregation.

–Let’s look at the seven churches of Asia found in Revelation 2 & 3

What it will NOT provide

•Ephesus–Jesus is addressing a problem in the entire congregation

“'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”

•Ephesus“ … repent and do the deeds you did at

first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its

the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts

of immorality. …”

•Thyatira–It is allowing sin to remain in its midst

repent of her deeds. [23] 'And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the

•Sardis–The Lord is displeased with the congregation as a whole

–But some “have not soiled their garments”

[4] 'But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their

garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.”

•Encouragement–Hebrews 3:13

“But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called

"Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”

“and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,

[25] not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the

more as you see the day drawing near.”

•Fellowship–The early church was concerned with & daily practiced fellowship with one another•Acts 2:42

with one mind in the temple, …”

Hear the Word of God

hearing by the word of Christ."

•Romans 10:10"for with the heart a person believes,

resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in

salvation."•But faith alone isn’t enough

no works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of

Repent of your sins

•Acts 17:30-31“Therefore having overlooked the times of

ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He

will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed,

having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

Confess your faith in Jesus

•Romans 10:9"that if you confess with your mouth

Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the

dead, you will be saved;"

“Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 "Many

will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, …”

Continue Faithfully

•God does not expect perfection –Romans 3:23

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

•He just expects us to obey His will…–Romans 12:1

"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service

of worship."

"Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while

and then vanishes away."

"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up."
