maps of Tioga County township divisions, surveyed, 1808, will of Thomas

Hathway bequeathing portion of land to the Universal Friend, 1795, and

correspondence between Mack and Ferris family members about banking, legal

One document asks Mack to handle a real estate transaction for John James Speed, Jr., May 20, 1848.

Description

Legal papers concerning the Keystone Lumber Company (of Pennsylvania) and the First Bank of Elmira. Horace Mack represented the lumber company (the defendent) in a Supreme Court caSe. The company sold Mack 500 sq. ft. of lumber in exchange for a future amount from sales of lumber and cash. The lumber was originally assigned to the bank as security for notes held against the lumber company. The bank then filed suit against Mack for the amount of the notes (see document, Oct. 17, 1867).

Letters, legal papers, and Brief of title, to and from Horace Mack, Jr. about ownership of oil lands in Forest County, Pennsylvania. Mack acted as a legal agent for clients trying to determine ownership of "Church Farm," (or Hunter's Run) situated in Harmony Township near Tionesta I Pennsylvania.

TWo miscellaneous items. A water analyses of a well at III Ferris Place, Ithaca, by E. M. Chamot, a Cornell University Instructor in Analytical Chemistry. An unidentified, undated poem.

A 33 page carbon copy of "The streams and Water Courses of Tompkins County. What they are, and some of the things they have done," by Horace Mack, Nov. 26, 1901. Also a 3 page manuscript of suggested illustrations.
